NTT DATA is currently looking for an Application Architect for a public agency in Brussels.

We are currently seeking an experienced Freelance Application Architect (Java) to join our dynamic development teams on client-driven projects. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly skilled consultant who thrives in both technical leadership and architectural design.

Location: Remote/Hybrid
Initial Contract: Until 30/09/2025 (extension possible in 3- or 6-month increments)
Languages: French or Dutch (basic understanding of the second national language required)

Your Mission

As a Java Application Architect, you will:

• Lead and mentor Java development teams, defining and distributing tasks.
• Organize and oversee code reviews, merge requests, releases, and deployments.
• Design and improve application architectures in line with Smals technical standards.
• Propose innovative solutions and challenge existing systems.
• Align architectural vision with business needs across multiple domains.

Your Expertise

We're looking for someone with:

• Strong abstraction and design skills for both existing and new applications.
• Experience with document lifecycle processes (creation, validation, archiving, deletion, signing, routing).
• Familiarity with ECM/GED solutions (e.g., Nuxeo, SharePoint, Documentum).
• Knowledge of object storage systems (e.g., S3, NextCloud).
• Expertise in metadata management, versioning, access rights, and classification.
• Proficiency with indexing/search engines (e.g., Elasticsearch, OpenSearch).
