Application Owner/ Ops Engineer

Context

The National Institute for the Social Security of the Self-Employed (RSVZ) protects the social status of self-employed entrepreneurs – from the establishment of their business to after their retirement – and thus contributes to their social and economic well-being.

The IT department is a dynamic environment that responds to technological evolutions. More than 150 people work in this department and agile working is applied (scrum methodology). As RSVZ is a federal institution, the stakeholders are Dutch- or French-speaking.

The Application Owner / Ops Engineer is an integral part of a development team. There is multidisciplinary cooperation, and each team consists of a scrum master, business analysts, developers, testers, a product owner, as well as an AO/Ops Engineer.

Within the development team, the AO/Ops Engineer is responsible for the management and proper operation of several business applications and acts as the SPOC regarding the applications. He/she is in contact with the helpdesk or technical expert in the context of structural problems, with both IT and the business who in turn represent the users, as well as with external parties.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitoring and reporting on the components from the team that are running in production.
  • Following up on problems in production reported by the business.
  • Collaborating with the team to search for the cause and possible solutions for production issues.
  • Assisting in testing newly developed software to ensure it continues to work reliably.
  • Testing and validating “fixes” for issues in production.
  • Providing support during the release.

As a team member, the AO/Ops Engineer also contributes to the development of these business applications. He/she always does this in close collaboration with the fellow team members.

The AO-Ops Engineer is able to develop or modify code, draw up the necessary queries, and perform analyses. This person also creates the corresponding documentation. All of this according to the Agile method.

He/she is (together with the team) responsible for the follow-up of reported incidents. This includes identification, analysis, correction, testing. Communication with the customer is also an important aspect.

In the context of ongoing projects, the AO-Ops Engineer acts as an expert. In addition, he/she ensures the continuity of the applications and, together with the team, is responsible for and involved in the qualitative delivery of the components.

The AO/Ops Engineer provides advice to IT colleagues and users during the development of new projects in the domains and applications for which the team is responsible.

Skill:

Experience with SOAP / Postman is an asset
