Architect Lead DevOps Project Manager

Context

As part of a major digital transformation program integrating hybrid cloud, artificial intelligence, data, and co-creation environments, we are seeking a DevOps Project Architect Lead who can combine strategic vision, technical leadership, and strong operational involvement.

This role targets a senior profile, recognized for their ability to design complex architectures while remaining deeply involved in their concrete implementation.

Your mission

You are the DevOps reference within the organization, responsible for the definition, implementation, and evolution of DevOps platforms, both on strategic and operational aspects.

You personally carry the architectural choices, implement them with the teams, and ensure their alignment with business, security, and performance objectives.

You are expected to act as a hands-on technical leader, able to:

  • define a clear vision;
  • make technical decisions;
  • code, configure, automate;
  • and support the teams in the field.

Key responsibilities

DevOps Architectural Leadership (strategic & operational)

  • Define the target DevOps vision aligned with IT strategy and business challenges.
  • Design reference DevOps architectures (cloud, on-premise, hybrid, multi-cloud).
  • Be directly involved in detailed design and technology choices (notably an integration platform).
  • Validate and implement architecture patterns, standards, and best practices.

Design, implementation, and evolution of DevOps platforms

  • Maintain and further develop the existing DevOps line.
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD, GitOps, and IaC pipelines.
  • Automate deployments, tests, security controls, and recurring operations.
  • Actively work on pipelines, scripts, manifests, and configurations.

DevOps & MLOps for AI and innovation

  • Design and deploy DevOps lines dedicated to AI and MLOps environments.
  • Establish pipelines covering the entire lifecycle of AI models.
  • Adapt DevOps practices to specific AI constraints (data, models, performance, reproducibility).
  • Actively support AI Labs, POCs, R&D, and co-creation environments.

Management of complex DevOps projects

  • Lead major end-to-end DevOps projects.
  • Coordinate technical, security, data, infrastructure teams, and partners.
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines, quality, and value delivered.
  • Make impactful technical decisions and take responsibility for them.

DevSecOps, quality, and resilience

  • Integrate security from the design phase (DevSecOps).
  • Implement security controls, scans, policies, and audits.
  • Ensure resilience, performance, and availability of platforms.
  • Be involved in the management of complex incidents and post-mortems.

Knowledge transfer, coaching, and technical excellence

  • Act as a technical reference for DevOps and IT teams.
  • Support engineers through pair programming, code review, and collaborative architecture.
  • Share best practices via documentation, workshops, and coaching.
  • Be exemplary in quality standards and technical rigor.

Skills and expertise required

Technical expertise (very hands-on)

  • Advanced Linux (Red Hat appreciated).
  • Containerization and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift.
  • CI/CD, GitOps, complex pipelines (GitLab CI or equivalent).
  • Infrastructure as Code: Terraform, Ansible, Helm.
  • Advanced Python (scripting, automation, pipelines).
  • Public cloud (Azure, AWS, GCP) and hybrid architectures.
  • MLOps: MLflow, Kubeflow, DVC or equivalents.
  • Observability: logs, metrics, traces (ELK, Prometheus, Grafana).
  • Networks: TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, firewall.

Security

  • DevSecOps, OS and container hardening.
  • Identity, secrets, and certificate management.
  • Kubernetes/OpenShift and CI/CD pipeline security.
  • Compliance, auditability, and risk management.

Education, experience, and certifications

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in IT, engineering, data, or AI.
  • At least 3 years’ experience as an integration architect and a successful implementation of an integration platform.
  • Over 10 years of DevOps experience, including at least 7 years as a solution architect or equivalent.
  • Togaf certification.
  • At least one experience involving the definition of an AS IS and a TO BE architecture and the implementation of the latter in the context of a digital transformation for the public sector.
  • Proven experience in cloud, on-premise, and hybrid environments.
  • Solid experience in AI / MLOps / Machine Learning.

Languages

  • Professional English required.
  • French or Dutch required.
  • Proficiency in both (FR/NL) is an asset.

Practical details

Start date: 01/02/2026

Duration: quarterly (renewable)

Work regime: Full time (40h/week)

Work location: rue Royale 202A 1000 Brussels

Working conditions: Presence at the office at least 2 times per week depending on tasks and in agreement with the manager, remote work allowed from home or at the employer's premises (in Belgium)

Team: multidisciplinary, mix of internal and external collaborators
