Azure Data Engineer
Context
As part of its 2026 roadmap, STIB is embarking on an exciting data transformation journey. Our key initiatives include:
- Migrating non-SAP data to Azure to modernize our data infrastructure.
- Implementing strategic use cases that will drive business value and innovation.
- Building a self-service reporting strategy to empower teams across the organization.
To help us achieve these ambitious goals, we are looking for a passionate Azure Data Engineer to strengthen our Data & Analytics team.
Main Mission:
As an Azure Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal part in shaping STIB’s data ecosystem, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure data pipelines on the Microsoft Azure platform. You will play a key role in delivering reliable data to Data Science, BI, and business teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, or other Azure services.
- Implement modern data architectures (Data Lake, Delta Lake, Lakehouse).
- Automate data ingestion, transformation, and exposure processes.
- Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Scientists, and business stakeholders to understand needs and propose suitable solutions.
- Document data flows, models, and best practices.
- Assist in implementing a self-service reporting strategy using Power BI and Databricks.
- Maintain the Microsoft Azure platform.
Required Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Azure services: Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL, Azure Storage, Key Vault, Azure DevOps.
- Experience with distributed data processing frameworks (Spark, PySpark, Databricks).
- Strong skills in SQL, Python, and/or Scala.
- Knowledge of CI/CD principles applied to data engineering.
- Experience with Power BI administration and governance.
- Real time data streaming.
- Knowledge of application integration patterns (e.g. REST API/AMQP).
- Adhere to best practices.
Profile:
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
- Analytical mindset, attention to detail, autonomy, and team spirit.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
Nice to Have:
- Microsoft Azure certification (e.g., DP-203).
- Databricks certification (e.g., Databricks Data Engineer Associate).
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics).
- Basic SAP knowledge (S4/Hana as a major data source).
- Azure architecture experience (solution design, best practices, cloud governance).
