Business Analyst Application Mobile

You work within the Business Solutions department and report to the Manager Build & Transform. The main mission of the department is to ensure internal performance by providing quality IT solutions. We develop, operate, and maintain a wide range of internal IT solutions such as the SAP suite, as well as document management systems like Documentum or OpenText, case management solutions, the intranet, as well as the STIB mobile app and the website. We propose and develop a strategic vision for the digital evolution of STIB’s internal performance.

You will join the Build & Transform team, responsible for the analysis, preparation, and execution of the department’s projects.

As part of the complete redesign of the STIB mobile application, we are looking for a Business Analyst capable of ensuring the link between:

  • business needs,
  • user experience (UX),
  • design teams,
  • and development teams.

The role is central in structuring user journeys, transforming needs into actionable specifications, and ensuring consistency between business processes, UX/UI screens, and the development backlog.

The Business Analyst will be involved throughout the entire functional definition cycle up to the preparation for development.

The Business Analyst is responsible for:

  • defining and structuring User Journeys,
  • transforming business needs into detailed journeys,
  • identifying necessary features,
  • managing nominal cases and edge cases,
  • structuring User Stories and Acceptance Criteria,
  • preparing the elements necessary for UX/UI work,
  • ensuring traceability between business needs, UX, and delivery.

They act as a pivot between:

  • business,
  • UX/UI,
  • architecture,
  • development,
  • QA,
  • and project management.

Ultimate goal of the role

Ensure that:

  • business needs are correctly translated,
  • user journeys are coherent,
  • screens are exhaustively defined,
  • UX/UI teams have a clear framework,
  • and development teams can implement without ambiguity.

Main responsibilities

1. Business analysis & functional scoping

  • Gather business and user needs
  • Challenge requests to clarify real objectives
  • Structure user journeys (User Journeys)
  • Identify pain points and complex cases
  • Prioritize needs with the Product Owner and the PM

2. Structuring User Journeys

  • Define end-to-end user journeys
  • Break down journeys into detailed steps
  • Identify:
  • variants,
  • exceptions,
  • error cases,
  • offline scenarios,
  • real-time dependencies,
  • accessibility needs (PMR)
  • Ensure complete coverage of critical journeys

3. Transformation Journey → Features → Screens → Stories

The BA must structure and maintain complete traceability:
User Journey → Features → Screens → User Stories → Acceptance Criteria

4. UX/UI preparation

The BA prepares the necessary elements for the designers’ work:

  • definition of the screen mapping,
  • description of functional behaviors,
  • definition of states:
  • loading,
  • error,
  • empty,
  • offline,
  • edge cases.

The BA works closely with UX/UI Designers to ensure journey coherence.

5. Backlog management

  • Write Epics and User Stories
  • Define Acceptance Criteria
  • Structure dependencies
  • Prepare refinements
  • Maintain a clear and actionable backlog

6. Delivery coordination

  • Collaborate with technical teams to clarify expected behaviors
  • Participate in UX/UI workshops
  • Participate in Agile refinements
  • Support QA/UAT teams

7. Documentation & governance

  • Maintain functional documentation in Confluence
  • Structure functional repositories
  • Ensure document consistency
  • Ensure traceability between:
  • needs,
  • journeys,
  • screens,
  • stories,
  • tests.
