Business Analyst Odoo – Finance & Billing
Do you understand how a euro moves from a charging session to a journal entry? Do you enjoy translating complex tariffs, contracts and transaction flows into billing logic that stands up at month-end closing?
D’Ieteren Energy is replacing its charging platform with AMPECO as the new CPMS. Odoo is already in place and remains the ERP and billing engine; the challenge is to integrate AMPECO with Odoo and secure robust financial flows: rating, invoicing, payments, roaming settlement, accounting and reconciliation.
You act as the bridge between Finance and the delivery teams, working closely with the Finance Controller, Odoo developers, the integration partner and the CPMS provider.
What will you do?
You take functional ownership of the financial scope of the Odoo implementation:
-
Map end-to-end financial flows: B2B, B2C, fleet, split billing, CPO revenue and eMSP roaming, from session to invoice, payment and journal entry.
-
Translate tariffs, subscriptions, bundles, promotions and roaming agreements into Odoo billing rules and accounting logic.
-
Produce current-state and future-state process documentation, functional specifications, data mappings, interface contracts and business rules for the CPMS ↔ Odoo ↔ PSP ↔ bank integration.
-
Define accounting treatment with Finance: accounts, VAT, analytics, accruals, credit notes and revenue recognition.
-
Design reconciliation between CPMS transactions, PSP settlements, bank statements and the general ledger, including exceptions and disputes.
-
Run workshops, challenge requirements, arbitrate standard vs. custom Odoo behaviour and keep scope under control.
-
Own the finance backlog: user stories, acceptance criteria, prioritisation and delivery follow-up.
-
Build and run finance testing: integration tests, UAT, simulated month-end close and reconciliation dry-runs.
-
Ensure full auditability: every invoice line can be traced back to a charging session and forward to the corresponding accounting entry.
Who are you?
-
You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business engineering or an equivalent field, or have acquired equivalent expertise through professional experience.
-
You bring at least four to five years of experience as a business analyst or functional analyst in finance, billing or ERP environments, and you are comfortable representing Finance in technical discussions.
-
You are fluent in English (mandatory) and have a good command of French or Dutch.
-
You master the fundamentals: AR/AP, invoicing and credit notes, VAT, accruals, reconciliation, month-end close and audit trail.
-
You are an Odoo expert with hands-on experience in Accounting, Invoicing and Subscriptions, able to translate business needs into workable Odoo configurations and specifications.
-
You are at ease with high-volume, automated transaction flows and design controls around exceptions rather than checking every item manually.
-
You communicate clearly in writing, producing specifications, mappings and test cases that developers can use without further interpretation.
-
You challenge unclear ownership, dig into discrepancies until you find the root cause, and keep Finance, Commercial, Product and IT aligned.
-
Experience in e-mobility, energy, payments, telco or another usage-based billing environment is a strong advantage.
Why this assignment?
-
You will design the financial backbone of one of D’Ieteren Energy’s most critical platforms while the operating model is still being shaped, rather than inheriting an established model.
-
The assignment has a broad scope: every business segment—B2B, B2C, fleet, public network and roaming—depends on the flows you define.
-
You will work in a cross-functional role at the intersection of finance, mobility, energy and technology, supported by a strong internal team and experienced implementation partners.
-
The result is visible and measurable: accurate invoices, reliable accounts, controlled cash flows and an efficient month-end close.
Practical information
-
Type of engagement: freelance / consultancy assignment (self-employed or through a consultancy company).
-
Duration: 5 months, starting ASAP, with a possible extension depending on the project roadmap.
-
Workload: 5 days per week.
-
Location: D’Ieteren offices in Kortenberg and Boitsfort, with hybrid working – on-site presence expected during workshops, testing and cutover phases.
-
Daily rate: to be proposed, based on experience and seniority.
-
Selection process: CV screening, intake interview and a business case or technical deep-dive.
