Business Information Analyst Grid Management

Proper management of data and information is becoming increasingly important in a data driven world and with the rise of AI. That is why Fluvius is looking for a Business Information Analyst, abbreviated as BIA, to temporarily strengthen the team of BIAs in the Network Management directorate. As a BIA, you are responsible for the creation and management of information models within your assigned domain. Such an information model primarily clarifies which concepts exist and what exactly is meant by them (definitions), which information we keep about these concepts and why (attributes), and how these concepts are linked together (relationships). Additionally, in the information model, you can also link to processes (where and by whom is the information created, used, or modified?) and document business rules that can result in quality measurements and, where necessary, cleaning operations.

For the creation of these information models, it is important that you get to know the business well and involve and consult various business experts. This can be done both ad hoc and through targeted work sessions that you facilitate.

These information models form the basis for high-quality Fluvius information. You provide advice on data migration to new applications, ensure that the captured information needs are covered as well as possible, and that this information can be made available and accessible in a consistent and efficient manner to support Fluvius (and in particular the Network Management directorate) in making choices and policy decisions.

Additionally, as a BIA you will also be deployed to answer a number of concrete business questions by providing the necessary information at the right time and in the most appropriate form.

  • You advise and support the information owner in making decisions regarding the management and quality level of the information.
  • You actively search for optimizations and best practices to continuously improve the management, accessibility, and processing of information, also taking into account the projects and the Fluvius Corporate Information processes and working methods.
  • You capture information needs and ensure that these are translated into clear functional requirements. In this way, you form the link between your business and the product team.
  • Depending on the needs, you can take on the role of information analyst in projects with significant information impact.
  • You act as an independent facilitator and coordinator who advocates for the interests of the organization as a whole.
  • You build up the necessary knowledge about information, processes, applications, and organization within and outside Network Management to be able to safeguard coherence.
  • You make your expertise available to facilitate management decisions: you carry out analyses on request, participate in or facilitate consultation meetings, and follow up on the resulting actions.
  • You ensure the conformity, consistency, and user-friendliness of the documentation.
  • You provide support in terms of training and communication about the information.
  • You stay up-to-date with trends and developments in the field of Data Governance, Business Intelligence, and Network Management activities such as Asset Management.

As a business (information) analyst you will:

  • Collaborate with various colleagues from the different involved departments (Strategy, Network Management, Network Operations, ICT, ...) and thus develop a broad network within the Fluvius organization and gain broad knowledge within the utilities sector.
  • Be part of a dynamic (product) team, where priority is given to collective results.
  • Expand your knowledge regarding the use of project management and information analysis (and the necessary tools for this) through on-the-job training.

Currently, we are mainly looking for reinforcement within the domains of public lighting and our pipelines and networks (GIS).

Context/Requirements

Network Management is responsible for translating our Fluvius corporate strategy into the right choices for the further development and maintenance of our utility networks.
This, of course, in close collaboration with other stakeholders (Regulation and Strategy, Network Operations, Financial Management, ICT, ...).
Today, Fluvius is fully engaged in building a comprehensive data and information platform where all relevant data and information comes together as a basis for analyses, reporting, and data science questions. This is to be able to meet many challenges in a data driven way: the energy transition, expansion of the offering, synergy in long-term planning between various disciplines, investment budget under pressure, ...
This is a major challenge in terms of business intelligence, data analytics, and information management, requiring the design of an appropriate organization, the proper implementation of the necessary tools that seamlessly connect, and the creation and maintenance of the necessary documentation, particularly the metadata.

For this, as a business analyst you work closely with the information owners and business experts within Network Management and the product teams and projects within the major programs of Fluvius. You rely on a solid methodological approach regarding information and process management, quality, and project management with continuous focus on operational excellence, and above all you have the drive to contribute to a data driven organization.

  • You have obtained a master's degree.
  • You have at least 3 years of relevant experience as a business analyst with a focus on information.
  • You manage to work from a helicopter view without sacrificing operational pragmatism.
  • You are eager to learn, enterprising, and analytical, and are willing to seek out external information.
  • You have excellent relational skills and demonstrate efficiency when working autonomously on projects. You are responsible, flexible, and have initiative. You have a conceptual mindset with a sense for maximum synergy.
  • Knowledge of the utilities sector and the transformation this sector is undergoing is an asset.
  • You are strong in conceptual thinking and in developing thorough analyses (information analysis, data preparation, ...).
  • You have experience with one or more Data Governance, Data Analytics & Business Intelligence tools such as Purview, Enterprise Architect, Microsoft Azure, SAP Analytics Cloud, SAP Data Services, Databricks, PowerBI, ...
  • You have experience with major change processes.

ATTENTION: The skill "Demonstrable experience with development and optimization of business processes (BPM)" does not apply to this request.
