About the Agency and Traffic

Our roads connect everything and everyone. Wherever you drive, walk, or cycle, whoever you are, the road brings us together. This is only possible if these connections are safe, smooth, and sustainable for all road users in Flanders, now and in the future. That is what we, as an Agency, fully commit to. We manage the 7,000 km of regional and highways and over 7,700 km of cycle paths in Flanders with heart and soul.

It's about more than just roads. Think of tunnels, bridges, ecoducts, traffic lights, highway lighting, road markings… But also our Traffic Center, which focuses on the traffic flows on the highways. With 1,300 colleagues spread over 10 departments and 23 districts, across all Flemish provinces, we have a wealth of expertise and field knowledge.

We manage the roads not only physically but also digitally. We are working on digital construction models of our infrastructure (BIM) and, for example, with ‘mobilidata’ we are fully committed to a future where self-driving cars, smart traffic lights, and traffic management applications will be the new normal.

You don't realize infrastructure projects alone. You do this together with many colleagues. You can always count on everyone. And everyone counts on you. We are a do-agency. Our job is not always predictable and we act quickly in our projects. Thanks to our positivity and open-mindedness, we always find solutions for unexpected things. And from problems along the way, we learn and especially remember the lessons.

CAD Designer in the Road Infrastructure Design Team

The Road Infrastructure Design Team is a central team under the department of Asset Information and Road Infrastructure Inspections of the Agency for Roads and Traffic of the Flemish Government, located in Evere. Our team members are based in the various provinces of Flanders.

Our team is responsible for designing road infrastructure in support of the territorial departments and project managers. The team works around three domains: land surveying, CAD design, and management of the plan archive. It partly acts as an internal design office and provides support in the development of investment projects and PCV files.

As a CAD Designer, you are responsible for preparing, executing, and checking various drawing assignments for internal clients within a certain timeframe. You receive your assignments from the team leader and report regularly on the progress of your work. During the design phase of a project, you regularly meet with the project manager and site manager to discuss the design and make adjustments where necessary. Team meetings are organized regularly to exchange experiences with colleagues.

You are responsible for:

• developing sketch designs
• drawing ground plans, longitudinal profiles, cross-sections, axis plans, etc.
• drawing signage plans
• supporting the surveyors in preparing expropriation plans
• creating BIM models
• preparing quantity take-offs
• …

You are familiar with:

• 3D design in Civil3D
• existing standards and norms in road construction
• (basic) knowledge of BIM/AIM
• knowledge of common software applications

Practical information:

• The contract is for a period of 1 year, possibly renewable annually after positive evaluation
