Role Overview
The SAP FS-CM Functional Consultant/Developer is a critical hybrid role responsible for the end-to-end design, configuration, development, and support of the SAP Claims Management (FS-CM) module. This position requires an in-depth understanding of the claims handling lifecycle, expert SAP configuration skills in FS-CM, and strong ABAP development capabilities to deliver efficient, customized claims solutions and ensure regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Consulting & Configuration
- Analyze and interpret complex business requirements from Claims and operations stakeholders (e.g., claims adjusters, claims auditors) and translate them into effective SAP FS-CM solutions.
- Perform system configuration and customizing across all core FS-CM components, including:
- Claims Product Configuration (e.g., configuring claim item groupings, coverage determination).
- Setting up and maintaining the Claim Process Model and status management.
- Configuration of Reserve Management, Payment Handling, and Subrogation/Recovery processes.
- Defining rules for Fraud Management and claims analytics integration.
- Managing interfaces and integration points with SAP FS-CD (Collections & Disbursements), SAP FS-PM (Policy Management), and FICO/GL.
- Design and document detailed functional specifications for reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms (RICEF).
- Conduct unit, integration, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and provide comprehensive training and documentation.
Development & Technical Implementation
- Develop and modify ABAP/ABAP OO programs to implement custom claims-specific requirements.
- Utilize and extend FS-CM-specific technical components such as BAdIs, User Exits, and enhancement points (e.g., within the Claim Handler’s Desktop).
- Develop interfaces for data exchange with external systems (e.g., medical providers, repair shops) via Web Services or APIs.
- Troubleshoot and perform technical debugging of ABAP code and complex FS-CM configuration.
- Collaborate on technical upgrades, patching, and performance optimization within the FS-CM.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Expert knowledge of the FS-CM technical and functional architecture (Claim Header, Claim Item, Participant, Claim Handler’s Desktop). Proficiency in configuring the Claim Process Model and Coverage Determination. Deep understanding of Payments and Reserves.
- Advanced ABAP programming skills. Experience with FS-CM specific development objects (e.g., custom events, enhancements). Proficiency in debugging and performance analysis. Familiarity with SAP data models, particularly in FS-CM.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of dedicated, hands-on experience in implementing and supporting SAP FS-CM.
- Demonstrated expertise in both functional customizing and ABAP development within the FS-CM context.
- Strong understanding of Claims Business Processes across at least one major insurance line (P&C/Non-Life, Health, or Auto).
