Cloud Architect

General:

You work as a Cloud Architect at the Ministry of Defence, where you contribute within the General Directorate of Material Resources of the General Staff in Evere (Brussels) to further map out the current architecture of the existing IT services and to further develop the future architecture.

You work with new technologies and concepts to develop solutions for clients with territorial and/or operational needs and systems.

You have a focus on understanding needs and delivering an appropriate solution and are able to document all of this according to best practices. You are willing to work in a military environment and undergo a security verification (Law of 11 December 1998 concerning classification, security clearances, security certificates, security advice, and the publicly regulated service).

Details:

  • Defining and articulating the short- and long-term vision for information architecture and Cloud governance in light of the growing strategic importance of Cloud solutions within the organization. The management of Cloud solutions includes scalable, reliable, and secure solutions that are aligned with various guidelines.

  • Assessing and selecting suitable Cloud providers and services that meet the needs of the organization.

  • Planning and managing Cloud migrations of IT architecture within our existing infrastructures in accordance with company standards and guidelines, taking into account security principles and new directives.

  • Finding the right balance in the way Cloud governance and information architecture are implemented for small and large data projects (i.e., degree of automation, level of detail, coverage, focus on long term versus short term, costs).

  • Contributing to service development or improvement projects initiated by other departments to ensure architectural support, collection and breakdown of requirements, compliance, and consistency.

  • Ensuring documentation of the architectural landscape within your area of responsibility.

  • Working closely with our other architects to ensure that the underlying architecture, infrastructure services, and technical decisions meet application needs and SLAs.

  • Cooperating with our partners and external IT vendors.
