About the role

We are looking for an experienced Cloud, Infrastructure & Security (DevSecOps) Engineer. In this role, you are responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable and secure cloud environments, with a specific focus on the maritime sector. You will work closely with product and development teams and serve as an expert in cloud infrastructure, security, and governance.

Your responsibilities:

• Designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructures in Azure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, Terraform AVM modules).

• Implementing security and governance frameworks, including ISO27001, CAF/WAF, Microsoft Defender, PIM, Conditional Access, and Azure Policy.

• Supporting product teams in cloud transformations, app modernization, and migration projects.

• Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, YAML) and containerized environments (AKS, Docker, Kubernetes).

• Applying best practices in security, compliance, and FinOps.

• Integrating and managing EDI and AS2 protocols within cloud environments and enterprise architectures.

• Knowledge sharing, mentoring, and actively staying up to date with new technologies and best practices.

• Communication and coordination with stakeholders and customers, focused on collaboration and project continuity.

Profile:

• At least 3-5 years of experience in Cloud, Infrastructure, and Security Engineering.

• In-depth knowledge of Azure, Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell, and Kubernetes.

• Experience with governance frameworks such as CAF/WAF and ISO27001.

• Strong communication skills and a customer-oriented approach.

• Experience with government agencies in the maritime logistics sector is a must.

• Relevant certifications such as CKA, Terraform Associate, Azure Solution Architect, DevOps Engineer Expert, and FinOps practitioner are a plus.

• Demonstrable experience in scalable and modular cloud environments.

• Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK.

• Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and automation of cloud processes.

Practical:

• Fixed office days minimum of 2 to 3 days, with the possibility of working from home

• Assignment can be extended after a positive evaluation

• Nxtport reserves the right to ask consultants with a self-employed status about their daily rate

• Place of employment: Havenhuis. If travel is required, the arrangements in the assignment letter apply

• Security screening:
  All consultants/freelancers who will be employed at Nxtport are subject to security screening: The screening consists of a comprehensive investigation into the background and reliability of a person. This investigation is carried out by using various judicial and police databases. The aim is to assess whether a person is reliable to perform a critical function and/or to gain access to sensitive infrastructure. The screening applies to numerous sectors, including the port sector.

When submitting the proposal, the Supplier must agree to propose only Consultants who are willing to undergo this security investigation.

The process of the security investigation can take up to 30 days: the Supplier accepts this waiting period and ensures that the candidate remains available during the screening process.

Only the Consultant(s) of the Supplier selected by the Client for this contract will be subject to the security investigation.

The Security Officer of the Client (as administrative authority) forwards the individual request for security investigation to the competent Federal Police, who will provide a security recommendation based on the investigation.

A negative security recommendation will be communicated to the concerned Consultant via the Security Officer of the Client (as administrative authority). This notification will state the reasons justifying this decision, except for information whose disclosure could harm the fundamental interests of Belgium or the State. The notification also includes information on the possibility to appeal this decision.

If there is no positive security result (for example, when no recommendation can be given) from the Federal Police, the vacancy will be closed without contract.

If the positive security recommendation is lost during the term of the contract, the contract will be terminated without any compensation.
