About the assignment

For an organization in the Ghent region, we are looking for a freelance Cybersecurity Manager (CISO) who will provide strategic direction for the cybersecurity and information security policy.
In this role, you will ensure that the organization keeps its digital environment safe, reliable, and resilient, in a context of increasing cyber threats and growing digital dependency.
You combine strategic insight with pragmatic execution and work closely with IT, data and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and implement the cybersecurity and information security policy
• Translate policy into clear frameworks, standards, and guidelines
• Work from recognized frameworks (such as NIST) and monitor cybersecurity maturity
• Initiate and lead cybersecurity improvement projects based on risk analyses, audits, and incidents
• Manage the full cyber risk lifecycle: identification, protection, detection, response, and recovery
• Coordinate incident response and crisis management for cyber incidents and data breaches
• Identify and monitor organization-wide cyber risks, including vendor and third-party risks
• Advise management and stakeholders on cyber risks, priorities, and strategy
• Act as point of contact for audits and compliance matters

Profile

• Demonstrable experience as Cybersecurity Manager, CISO, or similar role
• Strong knowledge of cybersecurity and ICT risk management
• Experience with frameworks such as NIST and implementing them within organizations
• Insight into IT infrastructure, cloud, networks, and data environments
• Knowledge of relevant regulations (such as NIS2, GDPR)
• Experience with vendor and third-party risk management
• Strong in stakeholder management and communication at management level
• Analytical, pragmatic, and able to translate strategy into concrete actions
