We are looking for an experienced and skilled Data Engineer to strengthen our data platform teams and lead the creation of the Common Data Model. The main focus of this role will be to create a single source of truth by combining previously siloed models such as insurance, risk, commercial, and other relevant data sources into the new — further to be developed — integration layer on the new Azure Synapse lakehouse data platform.

Your Day to Day activities include

• Lead the evolution of our Common Data Model. You will work on complex data integration and standardization tracks, extending data models (3NF/Kimball) for the integration and data product layer of the platform:
• Performing source to target mappings between the layers of the platform
• Analyze existing data models and identify opportunities to combine and streamline data sources.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and requirements.
• Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to design and implement data pipelines and data processing systems.
• Continuously monitor and optimize data architecture to ensure scalability and performance.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior members of the team.
• Ensure platform operational excellence by enhancing platform-wide data quality and consistency and reducing operational costs of the E2E platform via FinOps.

You will work in a modern, cloud-based data environment built on:

• Azure Synapse Analytics
• PySpark and SparkSQL (Spark 3.5/4.X) experience
• Azure Synapse Pipelines
• Azure Data Lake Storage
• Azure DevOps (CI/CD)
• OpenLineage

Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in data architecture, data modeling, and data governance.
• Experience with designing and implementing Common Data Models.
• Experience with migrations from on-premise systems to the cloud.
• Strong understanding of lakehouse (delta), data integration, and data processing technologies in the cloud (Azure).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
