Database Architect
Role
The collaborator will be part of a team of 5 people, the "Database Administrators," who are responsible for managing the SFPD's databases, supporting development teams for all database-related matters, and developing tools for their own needs.
You will support the modernization of our infrastructure by leading the migration of our critical databases to Oracle 26ai.
Specifically:
- Administer and optimize our production and non-production databases
- Work closely with application, infrastructure, and security teams and provide support during critical incidents
- Manage configuration changes according to business needs
- Define and implement a secure access strategy (IAM principles, roles, permissions, audit)
- Contribute to demonstrating NIS2 compliance within the data scope
- Contribute to the design of robust and tested backup and restoration strategies
- Regularly validate disaster recovery plans and ensure recovery in case of disaster
- Document procedures and keep them up to date
- Clearly communicate risks and solutions
It goes without saying that their role is crucial for the proper functioning of all the institution's business applications, notably the monthly payment of approximately 2,800,000 pensions.
Technical and General Skills
- In-depth knowledge of Oracle RDMS, DataGuard, RMAN
- In-depth knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL, RDS
- Knowledge of Linux
- Knowledge of MS-SQL, MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Apache, and Tomcat are a plus
- Knowledge and practical experience with Agile and Scrum
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve problems, seeking alternatives and implementing solutions in consultation with colleagues
- Ability to work in a team, making your skills available to achieve common goals
- Customer orientation, with a constant search for efficiency and productivity
- Technical project management of limited scope
- The ability to lead a team is an asset
Selection Criteria
In addition to technical skills, the following qualities will also be assessed:

- Ability to manage a team of technicians (DBAs)
The assignment requires a physical presence of at least 2 days per week at the SFP premises.
Language Skills
French-speaking or Dutch-speaking. Active knowledge of one of the two national languages and at least passive knowledge of the other.
