๐Ÿข About the Client

The Client is in charge of developing, maintaining and operating the DG's information systems at the three geographical sites in Brussels, Luxembourg and Grange.

The unit works directly with the policy units on digital solutions to implement policies and manages the local IT infrastructure and support. The mission of the Client is to:

  • improve and protect human health, and support the modernization of Europe's health systems
  • ensure that all food, feed and medicinal products marketed in the EU are safe and that EU standards are promoted globally
  • protect animal health and welfare and plant health
  • contribute to a well-functioning and fair internal market in food

๐Ÿ’ผ Your Role

As a Database Architect, these are the main tasks that you'll be responsible for:

  • Data analysis and modelling.
  • Database design and implementation.
  • Reverse engineering of existing databases.
  • Development, maintenance and integration of database components.
  • Integration with other databases.
  • Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models and databases.
  • Writing of technical documentation.
  • Assistance with deployment and configuration of the system.
  • Troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Provision of technical evaluations and audit reports of databases.
  • Risk analysis.
  • Participation in meetings with the project teams

โœ… Technical Skills:

  • Experience of data modelling and database design techniques and tools (e.g. SQL Developer Data Modeler, Hackolade, NoSQL Workbench).
  • Solid experience with development tools (Oracle SQL Developer)
  • Great knowledge of RDBS (e.g. Oracle)
  • Deep knowledge of NoSQL DBS (ElasticSearch, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • Great experience with SQL, PL/SQL
  • Good knowledge of database development best practices
  • Understanding of master data management
  • Good expertise with database security, database architecture and database release management
  • Agile
  • Confluence and Jira
  • Capability to write clear and structured technical and non-technical documents

๐ŸŽ“ Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Languages:

  • Excellent knowledge of English - Level C1 in Understanding, Speaking and Writing
  • Good knowledge of French - Level B2 in Understanding, Speaking and Writing will be an advantage
