The assignment consists of carefully unlocking a critical ADABAS/Natural database environment on BS2000 to a new Linux platform, without disrupting existing operations.

The focus is on building technical modules for data extraction and data transformation, and setting up a replication mechanism so that the BS2000 environment and the Linux environment can operate temporarily in parallel and as synchronously as possible.

The candidate develops, tests, and documents the necessary components to reliably make existing data and new data flows available on the new platform. The migration of the applications themselves is not part of the assignment; the focus is on data, transformation, replication, synchronization, and validation.

Mission

• For this assignment, we are looking for an experienced technical profile with strong knowledge of the BS2000 mainframe environment, especially Natural and ADABAS. The person must be able to analyze existing legacy processes, correctly interpret data objects, and develop technical modules that enable data extraction, transformation, replication, and validation towards a Linux platform.

• The assignment requires a good knowledge of existing mainframe components, as the current environment runs on BS2000 and data is currently managed and processed via Natural and ADABAS processes. Documentation is historically not always complete or immediately usable, so the candidate must also be able to independently analyze existing programs, jobs, objects, and data flows.

• The candidate works on a mechanism whereby the BS2000 environment and the Linux environment temporarily operate in parallel and as synchronously as possible, without initially needing to adapt the existing feeding processes. Finally, the candidate is also responsible for testing and validation, including technical test scenarios, comparison between source and target data, reconciliation checks, detection of missing or duplicate records, verification of incorrect mappings or transformations, and documentation of test results, deviations, and corrective actions.
