For an ongoing backend project, we are looking for a test engineer to identify and resolve gaps within testing. The test engineer is expected to work towards a QA process that focuses on testing, reviewing & monitoring.

Your responsibilities include

• In the first phase: Manage testing debt

• Conduct detailed analyses of the current test coverage of the system. (Including reviewing automated tests).

• Identify and document testing debt & testing gaps.
• Develop a plan to eliminate current testing debt and increase overall test coverage and efficiency.
• Static testing of functional requirements documents
• Assess the testability of the system (services, batches, …). If necessary, initiate an improvement trajectory, including describing the need for mocks, stubs & drivers.
• Identify, contact, and consult stakeholders/three amigos for the various items under test.
• Collaborate with test automators to create an automated regression set.
• Expose, analyze, and interpret the discrepancies found between requirements, the system, and the test cases.
• Formulate improvement proposals for functional analyses and the system.

• Report to management and clients on progress regarding testing debt & undesirable behavior within the system.

• In a second phase: Test activities within an Agile SCRUM framework

• Review analysis documents

• Define test cases
• Execute test cases and interpret test executions
• Functional review of user stories

• Review automated test cases

• Coordinate the test environment to ensure the availability of the material resources required for the test project.

• Actively collaborate with the project manager, the test coordinator and/or management to ensure smooth communication regarding the integration of the test project into the overall project and in compliance with the company’s quality strategy
  • Propose and defend the chosen test strategy
  • Prepare and manage test reports
• Represent the “quality” values of the Test Competency Center within the project teams
  • Coach developers in test automation
  • Coach analysts to ensure testability
  • Consult with the Test Competency Center

Profile

• Thorough knowledge of test methodologies, tasks, and processes. Possessing ISTQB foundation or advanced certificate(s) is a plus.
• Familiarity with the use of a test management tool, e.g. Testlink
• Familiarity with the use of an issue & project management tool, e.g. Jira
• Familiarity with the use of a content collaboration tool, e.g. Confluence
• Familiarity with test automation tools such as SOAPui, RESTassured, JUnit, Spring Boot Test, PostMan
• Basic knowledge of development practices & test paradigms such as continuous integration & TDD
• Basic knowledge of UML / BPMN
• Basic knowledge of Java
• Basic knowledge of SQL
• Basic knowledge of git / svn
• Good interpersonal skills
• Finally, you express yourself fluently in Dutch and French.
