The Electric Bus Systems (EBS) program concretizes the mission, vision, and objectives regarding the phased introduction of zero-emission driving in Flanders through the greening and renewal of the fleet.

To green its fleet, De Lijn is introducing electric buses throughout its network.

Within the e-bus program, De Lijn is looking for an Expert Charging Infrastructure Monitoring & Alarms.

As an Expert Charging Infrastructure Monitoring & Alarms, you support a large-scale electrification project within a public transport company with 2,500 vehicles. You contribute to the further digitalization and monitoring of the charging infrastructure, from grid connection to charging point. You develop, program, and configure the technical components of the SCADA system and ensure that monitoring, alarming, and intervention processes are set up, documented, and transferred end-to-end.

You work on a project basis under the guidance of a Project Manager and transfer your work in a structured manner to the operational service organization.

Core Responsibilities

  1. SCADA Configuration and Alarm Management

  2. Setting up alarm scenarios and notifications in the SCADA system for the entire charging infrastructure network (grid > distribution panels > chargers > vehicles).

  3. Determining threshold values and escalation chains in consultation with operations and maintenance.

  4. Monitoring of Charging Infrastructure

  5. Setting up end-to-end monitoring dashboards and reports.

  6. Selection and implementation of relevant measurement and monitoring points.

  7. Programming Field Components

  8. Programming of RTUs (Remote Terminal Units) and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) for connecting sensors and measuring equipment.

  9. Embedding logic for local alarms, failsafes, and communication with central SCADA.

  10. Hardware Configuration

  11. Setting and documenting hardware components such as charging stations, distribution panels, power meters, sensors, and network components.

  12. Collaboration with suppliers for installation and commissioning.

  13. Process Documentation and Handover

  14. Defining, documenting, and transferring monitoring and intervention processes for the charging infrastructure.

  15. Drawing up procedures for alarm follow-up, fault detection, escalation, and technical intervention.

  16. Providing training or briefing for involved colleagues within maintenance and asset management.

  17. Handover to Service Organization

  18. Documentation and transfer of configurations, software, manuals, and settings to the permanent technical service.

  19. Ensuring technical assurance of the project deliverables in the standard processes of the organization.

Additional Job Information

The indicated number of person-days is an estimation to the best of our ability. This number may deviate in reality depending on the changing needs of De Lijn and does not constitute a commitment. The work will be carried out for De Lijn, with operational headquarters in Mechelen.

The assignment will mainly be performed at De Lijn's offices, Motstraat 20, 2800 Mechelen.

The maximum number of billable hours per month is the number of working days in that month x 8.

We expect the daily rate to be an all-in rate, with regular travel to depots throughout Flanders included.

In the context of go-live moments, it may be requested to work outside normal working hours and/or to be on standby to a limited extent outside normal working hours.

Additional work without prior approval will not be compensated.

The assignment is extendable and indexable according to the framework contract.

De Lijn has a substantiated preventive Alcohol, Drugs, and Medication (ADM) policy, with regular and unexpected checks, which are also applied to contractors in accordance with the ADM Policy. If a contractor tests positive during an alcohol or drug check, the subcontractor commits to immediately replacing this person with a suitable substitute.
