ABOUT THE POSITION
Belgoprocess is looking for a specialist in fire safety and security: Coordinating, organizing, and optimizing technical processes, fields of expertise, and projects, providing specialized advice, and developing safety guidelines within the own domain(s) of specialization with the aim of improving operational efficiency in the medium term, further deepening knowledge within the own domain of specialization, and ensuring safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Proactively identifying optimization opportunities in collaboration with various internal and/or external stakeholders to map out and initiate improvements and/or projects.
- Mapping and applying internal and external lessons learned and best practices in the context of improvements.
- Monitoring, adjusting, and optimizing (process) installations.
- Preparing technical and/or operational documents.
- Preparing, guiding, and executing in-depth and specialized calculations, analyses, and/or research in the context of issues and/or projects with the aim of enabling adjustments and innovations and contributing to optimizations.
- Designing installations and processes.
- Developing new models and/or methodologies.
- Drafting, verifying, and adjusting various memos, dossiers, studies, and working methods.
- Developing technical solutions and specifications within the context of projects and/or issues to address improvement needs.
- Technically translating the need into a compliant solution.
- Developing and implementing action plans and/or innovative developments.
- Preparing reports and recommendations and collecting the necessary information.
- Performing and/or participating in risk analyses and preparing safety measures in the context of projects, changes, and/or periodic reviews with the aim of contributing to the safety of installations and/or the broader work environment.
- Performing and/or participating in HAZOP, FMEA, SWIFT, MOC, …
- Leading, organizing, and adjusting projects, as well as reporting, to ensure that activities are carried out in line with the set deadlines, budgets, project objectives, and quality requirements.
- Preparing and monitoring project schedules, as well as tracking and reporting on the project budget.
- Setting up consultation structures with various stakeholders and preparing reports.
- Coordinating the project from the initial phase to the closing phase according to the applicable PMO procedure.
- Continuously analyzing and providing the necessary project, maintenance, and/or framework contracts in accordance with the Public Procurement Act, as well as being able to act as the leading officer to always act in accordance with laws and regulations and to limit legal risks.
- Developing from A-Z and/or coordinating the preparation of tender documents, taking into account the correct technical specifications.
- Guiding and contributing to the awarding process.
- Monitoring, evaluating, and adjusting assignments.
- Providing in-depth technical advice and acting as an expert within the own domain of specialization to internal and external stakeholders, as well as monitoring achievements with the aim of technically supporting stakeholders and facilitating analyses, projects, and activities based on own substantive knowledge.
- Safeguarding the maintainability, safety, availability, and/or reliability of technical installations and processes in the long term, both in the context of studies and in the field.
- Preparing and monitoring the content, correctness, and completeness of acceptance criteria and dossiers (including project dossiers, permit dossiers, safety dossiers, construction dossiers, accreditation dossiers, maintenance/operation dossiers, etc.).
- Designing and implementing installations according to a TCO principle and taking into account incident investigations and best practices.
- Acting as a knowledge carrier for the domain of specialization within the organization with the aim of centralizing, standardizing, safeguarding, and sharing specific knowledge and information within the organization.
- Keeping knowledge level up to date and continuously expanding it (attending conferences and/or fairs, keeping up with standards and legislation, etc.), as well as ensuring the safeguarding and sharing of knowledge, for example, through training and toolboxes.
- Preparing and checking specifications, standards, and processes.
- Developing, maintaining, and contributing to medium-term maintenance and replacement plans within own domain(s) of specialization, including budgeting.
Practical Information:
Project Management:
- Leading, organizing, executing, evaluating, and adjusting (technically in-depth) projects in collaboration with other (internal and external) staff, to realize Fire Safety & Security systems/installations that comply with all legal, operational, and safety regulations;
- Planning, reporting, and communicating to ensure the timely completion of the project and to keep stakeholders informed of progress;
- Professional coordination of activities to successfully complete the project in a cost-efficient manner;
- Managing and compiling the complete project dossier with the accompanying procedural and administrative follow-up. This includes, among other things, drawing up specifications and conducting public procurement.
Technical Advice & Support:
Desired Profile
- Master's degree in industrial sciences (Industrial Engineer) or equivalent through experience;
- Several years of relevant experience in industrial fire safety and/or security;
- Ability to draw up design requirements and specifications;
- Ability to convey knowledge and technical advice in an understandable manner;
- Ability to defend dossiers with sound arguments;
- Able to collaborate smoothly with colleagues inside and outside your department;
- Proactive in preventing problems and possessing strong problem-solving skills;
- Knowledge of technical English.
