Profile Description Front End Engineer, Specialization Angular 2+

The Commissariat General for Refugees and Stateless Persons is a federal independent administration. The mission of the CGRS consists of providing protection to persons who, in case of return to their country of origin, run the risk of persecution or serious harm. In accordance with Belgian, European, and international standards, the CGRS examines each request for international protection in an individual, objective, and impartial manner.

Within the CGRS, a modernization initiative has been launched, translated within the eDossier program. It is a very ambitious program, consisting of several projects, with a very tight schedule. To further shape and develop the program, we are looking for strong profiles who are temporarily willing (fixed-term contracts (time and means), immediately terminable, extendable upon positive evaluation) to commit until delivery, foreseen at least until the end of 2027.

One of the profiles we are looking for is a Front End Developer/Engineer, expert level (+10 years experience, mandatory), specialized in Angular 2+. The development of websites is not considered relevant experience; the development of web portals or webshops is. If you are a fullstack developer, your back end experience must be in the Java programming language with at least 2 years of experience with Java SE10+ (mandatory) and in the last 10 years you have performed at least 6 years of full-time front end development (mandatory).

• Degree in computer science, higher education short or long type, obtained from a recognized college or university within the European Union, is mandatory (diploma must be present together with the CV within the pro unity platform),
• Continuously self-educating to remain up to date with the latest sustainable trends and innovations within the domains of front end development,
• 10 years hands-on experience with front end application development,
• 5 years hands-on experience with cloud native front end application development,
• 5 years hands-on experience developing single page applications,
• 5 years hands-on experience with the Angular 2+ framework,
• 5 years hands-on experience defining and developing APIs, as well as exposing/consuming APIs in front end,
• 5 years hands-on experience developing web portals based on web portal technology or via Angular 2+ framework,
• 5 years hands-on experience as front end architect (design and architecture of front end solutions),
• 3 years hands-on experience with development and optimization of library components of a Design System,
• 3 years hands-on experience implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, preferably within Azure DevOps,
• 5 years hands-on experience working within agile delivery teams,
• Knowledge and hands-on use of JAVA SE10+ is an asset,
• Knowledge of Event Driven and/or Behavioral Driven Development is an asset,
• Knowledge of Domain Driven Design is an asset,
• Knowledge of existing building blocks and services within the federal government context is an asset,
• Ability to propose alternative solutions and make recommendations concerning choices to be made, taking into account the entire context,
• Good listener, flexible attitude, and possessing the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Due to the nature of the tasks and the client base (bilingual working environment), as well as our internal way of working, a good knowledge of English, as well as Dutch or French, is required.

• As an experienced front-end Engineer/developer with expertise in the Angular framework and extensive experience integrating RESTful services, you are passionate about building modern and scalable web applications. Your skills enable you to design and develop seamless, modern, and responsive user interfaces, making use of the power of Angular and the capabilities of RESTful services,
• You are able to communicate and collaborate effectively with other team members to streamline the integration of microservices in the front end and ensure a seamless user experience,
• You are skilled at translating designs and wireframes into well-structured, semantic, and reusable code. You are well-versed in implementing the latest front end technologies and best practices, taking into account the possibilities and limitations of various browsers and devices,
• You are familiar with best practices for structuring code and optimizing frontend architecture for a better user experience,
• You are well-versed in implementing APIs, processing data streams, and managing state in the application,
• You continuously keep yourself up to date with the latest developments,
• Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills enable you to tackle complex challenges and deliver effective solutions,
• You enjoy working in a team and can communicate well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to fully understand and meet the needs of the project,
• Even though you work in a team, you possess sufficient maturity to work independently and proactively,
• You actively collaborate with UX/UI designers and other internal stakeholders, provide feedback on the feasibility of designs, and give input to further optimize graphical designs,
• You accurately assess the architecture and data models and discuss them with your colleagues and stakeholders.
