Profile description front end engineer, specialization Angular 2+

The Commissariat General for Refugees and Stateless Persons is a federal independent administration. The mission of the CGRS is to provide protection to individuals who, upon return to their country of origin, risk persecution or serious harm. In accordance with Belgian, European, and international standards, the CGRS examines each request for international protection in an individual, objective, and impartial manner.

Within the CGRS, a modernization process has been initiated, translated into the eDossier program. This is a highly ambitious program consisting of several projects, with a very tight schedule. To further shape and develop the program, we are looking for strong profiles willing to commit themselves temporarily (fixed-term contracts (time and means), immediately terminable, extendable upon positive evaluation) until delivery, foreseen at least until the end of 2028.

One of the profiles we are seeking is a Front End Developer/Engineer, expert level (+10 years of experience, mandatory), specializing in Angular 2+. Website development is not considered relevant experience; the development of web portals or webshops is. If you are a fullstack developer, your back end experience must be in the Java programming language with at least 2 years of experience with Java SE10+ (mandatory), and in the last 10 years you must have performed at least 6 years of full-time front end development (mandatory).

• Degree in computer science (short or long type higher education), obtained at a recognized college or university within the European Union, is mandatory (diploma must be present along with the CV on the pro unity platform),

• Continuously self-educating to stay informed of the latest sustainable trends and innovations in the field of front end development,

• 10 years of hands-on experience with front end application development,

• 5 years of hands-on experience with cloud native front end application development,

• 5 years of hands-on experience developing single page applications,

• 5 years of hands-on experience with Angular 2+ framework,

• 5 years of hands-on experience defining and developing APIs, as well as exposing/consuming APIs in the front end,

• 5 years of hands-on experience developing web portals based on web portal technology or via Angular 2+ framework,

• 5 years of hands-on experience as front end architect (design and architecture of front end solution),

• 3 years of hands-on experience with development and optimization of library components of a Design System,

• 3 years of hands-on experience implementing and optimizing CI/CD pipelines, preferably within Azure DevOps,

• 5 years of hands-on experience (co-)working within agile delivery teams,

• Knowledge and hands-on use of JAVA SE10+ is an asset,

• Knowledge of Event Driven and/or Behavioral Driven Development is an asset,

• Knowledge of Domain Driven Design is an asset,

• Knowledge of existing building blocks and services within the federal government context is an asset,

• Ability to propose alternative solutions and formulate recommendations on choices to be made, taking the entire context into consideration,

• Good listener, flexible attitude, and able to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

I. Languages

Due to the nature of the tasks and the client base (bilingual work environment), as well as our internal way of working, a good knowledge of English, as well as Dutch or French, is necessary.

II. Tasks

• As an experienced front-end Engineer/developer with expertise in the Angular framework and extensive experience integrating RESTful services, you are passionate about building modern and scalable web applications. Your skills enable you to design and develop seamless, modern, and responsive user interfaces, leveraging the power of Angular and the capabilities of RESTful services,

• You are able to communicate and collaborate effectively with other team members to streamline the integration of microservices into the front end and ensure a seamless user experience,

• You are proficient in translating designs and wireframes into well-structured, semantic, and reusable code. You are well-versed in implementing the latest front end technologies and best practices, taking into account the capabilities and limitations of different browsers and devices,

• You are familiar with best practices for structuring code and optimizing the frontend architecture for a better user experience,

• You are proficient in implementing APIs, processing data streams, and managing state within the application,

• You keep yourself continuously up to date with the latest developments,

• Your strong analytical and problem-solving skills enable you to tackle complex challenges and deliver effective solutions,

• You enjoy working in a team and can communicate well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to fully understand and meet the needs of the project,

• Even though you work in a team, you possess sufficient maturity to work independently and proactively,

• You actively collaborate with UX/UI designers and other internal stakeholders, provide feedback on the feasibility of designs, and offer input to further optimize the graphic designs,

• You correctly assess the architecture and data models and discuss these with your colleagues and stakeholders.
