The assignment consists of designing, managing, and optimizing a critical InterSystems IRIS database environment within the Systems Division (DIST), with a strong emphasis on security, reliability, and continuity of police information systems.

The focus is on operational database management (health-checks, monitoring, patch management, journaling, mirroring, fail-over tests), data modeling and integration (globals/SQL tables, business-services/-processes/-operations), and performance and scalability optimization (index analysis, query tuning, ECP cache servers, shard clusters).

The candidate designs, implements, tests, and documents the necessary components and automates deployments via GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Ansible. Additionally, the candidate supports backend development of applications in Python and, if needed, the implementation and configuration of other DBMS systems.

Mission

For this assignment, we are looking for an experienced technical profile with strong knowledge of InterSystems IRIS (or Caché/Ensemble), in particular ObjectScript and the Python API of IRIS. The person must be capable of designing database solutions, configuring journaling/mirroring/ECP/sharding, and managing the environment securely and efficiently.

The assignment requires thorough knowledge of operational database management: daily health-checks, monitoring, patch management, configuration of journaling, WIJ, mirror sets, and fail-over tests, as well as modeling globals/SQL tables and configuring business-services, -processes, and -operations (BPL, including BPL debugging).

The candidate also works on performance and scalability optimization (index analysis, query tuning, parallel SQL, ECP cache servers, shard clusters) and automation (GitLab CI/CD pipelines for IRIS containers, deployment scripts with Ansible). Finally, the candidate supports development projects by designing custom database solutions and, if necessary, implementing and configuring other DBMS systems.
