We are looking for a Senior NL IT architect for projects for the Flemish Social Protection (VSB).

We expect the candidate to have not only a high level of technical skills (see below, and in particular Angular), but also demonstrable experience in leading developers (both front- and back-end development) at a technical level: task definition and distribution, technical design and guidance, code reviews.

The IT architect will have to guide a project from concept to end product, which requires good organizational skills and attention to detail.

This person must have at least 10 years of experience in Java development. Knowledge and understanding of a Service Oriented Architecture, experience with Java EE and Angular is required, with a preference for JBoss.

Project information
Within Smals, you will join the group that provides services to the Flemish Social Protection (VSB). One of the applications is eZBO, where people can apply for a care budget for elderly people with care needs. This is a budget for people aged 65+ with a limited income and health problems.

Currently, a doctor determines the number of points the care-dependent person receives on the self-reliance scale (the medical social scale – MSS). In the context of its plan to switch to a new application and the shortage of doctors who can perform the assessment, the organization wants to stop using the MSS and instead use the BelRAI Screener as the assessment tool for ZBO.

Requirements:

• Experience in leading developers (front and back-end development) (task definition and distribution, technical design and guidance, code reviews, …)
• Familiarity with JavaScript frameworks such as Angular
• Experience with server-side languages such as Java
• Familiarity with database technologies such as PostgreSQL and Oracle
• Excellent verbal communication skills

• Experience in developing web applications
• Nice to have: SoapUI, Docker, OpenShift, Podman, JSF
