Media project manager (freelance)
VRT is looking for several Project Managers!
What can you expect from this assignment?
VRT is seeking a project manager with a strong interest and relevant broadcaster experience in video and audio production.
VRT is developing new ways of working and is currently constructing a new, modern media building. Within the operations directorate, we are looking for project managers to successfully guide projects within a broad media framework. This can include, for example, building media file-based workflows or the operational use and management of the new VRT media network, both within video and audio production.
What do we expect from you?
As a project manager within operations, you are responsible for the successful management and execution of one or more large broadcast-related projects.
You play a crucial role in coordinating the projects assigned to you, monitoring budgets and deadlines, and ensuring the quality of the solutions. You closely collaborate with the involved technology teams and technology point, colleagues of the new VRT building, operational teams within VRT and users, as well as the externally appointed broadcast integrators by VRT to achieve the project objectives.
You ensure transparency within your project, in terms of goals, scope, timing, budget, and expectations. You monitor these various elements so that the goals are achieved through the project within the set budget. You are responsible for project management, project operations, planning, and budget follow-up.
You act as the point of contact and knowledge base and report on the assigned project, any problems, or opportunities to the relevant departments that are known.
You act as a representative of the operations directorate towards the various internal and external parties and ensure constructive and solution-oriented collaboration.
You are a true bridge builder who easily networks with the necessary partners both inside and outside VRT.
You can work autonomously, you enthuse and manage the expectations of all stakeholders.
You can work in a project-based manner and have an organized administrative approach and demonstrable relevant experience in this area.
You can formulate advice, suggestions, and feedback and succeed in convincing others based on clear and well-founded arguments.
You are a team player and are able to integrate smoothly and identify with the objectives of VRT.
You are punctual, result-oriented, stress-resistant, and can work within the agreed structures.
You possess the maturity to lead meetings efficiently and correctly.
Organizing is in your blood and you provide transparency within your project.
You have knowledge of project management methodologies and tools or are willing to quickly familiarize yourself with them. Knowledge of both a traditional and agile approach is an asset.
A Bachelor or Master’s degree is an asset.
Experience in the media sector and more specifically in audiovisual production is important.
You are available for this assignment from spring 2026 until spring 2028.
What do we offer you?
You will receive a full-time or part-time contract for a freelance assignment through an intermediary and this for 12 months, both are possible for us. Extension is possible by mutual agreement (Max. 3 times extendable).
The assignment will be awarded to one or more parties.

Context/Requirements:

4.1.2 “The rates stated in the Contract are so-called "all-in" rates, which include all costs, such as but not limited to management and administration costs, costs of all means of communication and all travel expenses to and from the place of execution (including parking costs). The rates are only exclusive of VAT.”

6.1 “Subcontractor is required to take out the necessary insurances with an FSMA recognized insurer for the entire duration of the Agreement and is also obliged to ensure that the auxiliary persons are insured against liability risks. The following insurances are concerned:
- All legally required insurances applicable to the Assignment (e.g. occupational accidents, business travel, etc.)

A Civil Liability and Professional Liability insurance (…)”

- “(…) Principal guarantees that VRT shall refrain from, during the term of the Contract and for a period of 12 months after its effective end, inducing the MSP resource to leave the Subcontractor.”

13.2.1 “The Contract shall terminate automatically upon reaching its end date and/or upon reaching the maximum number of performance days provided therein. Any further performance by the Subcontractor thereafter cannot give rise to invoicing. Either Party may terminate the Contract subject to a written one-month notice period. (…)”
