The assignment is situated within the Directorate of Police Information and ICT (DRI) of the Federal Police.
DRI is responsible for the management of police information and ICT resources. The directorate is in charge of preparing policy and regulations regarding information management, developing standards and technical norms, and implementing information and communication systems.
The position is within the Systems Division (DIST). DIST develops the ICT system architecture, organizes and manages the ICT systems, data centers, and central infrastructure. In addition, the division determines technical standards, implements ICT security, and provides specialized third-line support.
Project
The DECOM project aims to reduce dependence on the mainframe by migrating BNG, BCE (KBO), and other police data to a modern, open architecture. This migration makes this data more easily accessible for applications such as PoliceSearch, analytics solutions, artificial intelligence (AI), and intelligence-led policing (ILP).
PHP- and C-based applications play an important role in this. The consultant is part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of internal and external staff.
Mission
The consultant is responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and improving PHP and C solutions within the organization's information and communication systems.
Key tasks:
- Designing, developing, and testing applications based on functional and technical analyses
- Safeguarding the quality and further development of PHP and C applications in a high-availability environment
- Analyzing user needs in collaboration with functional analysts
- Keeping up with technological developments and providing technical advice
- Proposing improvements and adjustments to existing solutions and projects
- Creating and maintaining technical documentation
- Maintenance and technical support of applications
