ABOUT THE POSITION

You are responsible for managing, leading, and executing projects within your own field of activity, in accordance with the established priorities and objectives, with the aim of optimally guiding and realizing changes and innovations within the organization.

Areas of responsibility:

  • Planning, leading, organizing, and monitoring projects in order to efficiently and qualitatively realize them within the predefined objectives of time, budget, and regulations.
  • Developing project plans, being responsible for setting up the necessary studies, technical analyses, and concepts.
  • Drawing up the project schedule and monitoring progress to efficiently realize projects within budget.
  • Leading the execution, delivery, and commissioning of installations/infrastructure/solutions/realizations, with a focus on timely delivery and quality.
  • Coordinating activities within projects, determining the required competencies of the project team, and directing and supporting internal and/or external project staff to ensure projects are carried out (cost-)efficiently and in a quality manner.
  • Motivating and supporting the project team as well as drawing up and adjusting the project planning.
  • Coordinating the activities of team members and ensuring the correct and safe execution of tasks.
  • Consulting with stakeholders as well as detecting risks and/or problems during the various project phases and directing the solution.
  • Managing and compiling the complete project file with the associated procedural and administrative follow-up to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, procedures, and regulations.
  • Ensuring that technical and safety specifications are implemented.
  • Monitoring that project-related permit documents are drawn up.
  • Compiling project-related files and ensuring the completeness and correctness of information (construction file, as-built file, etc.).
  • Developing and maintaining communication with internal and external stakeholders, acting as a point of contact, and reporting on the progress and results of the projects to optimize cooperation and promote acceptance.

  • Being responsible for compiling and keeping the project files up to date, including documentation and the associated administrative and procedural follow-up, in order to have a complete and correct set of inventories, diagrams, procedures, securing the information, and complying with the applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Ensuring the development and maintenance of procedures and instructions for systems and/or installations.
  • Ensuring the proper execution and compliance with processes through training and appropriate documentation. Responsible for the preparation and monitoring of regulatory provisions (permit documents, technical and safety specifications, ...).
  • Providing, elaborating, and/or inventorying proposals for the optimization of infrastructure or applications in order to guarantee the organization optimal equipment and operation of resources.
  • Together with the experts, determining what the best available technology is that should be applied.
  • Ensuring that the inputs from the various experts are challenged and consolidated so that the whole is safe, qualitative, and cost-efficient.
  • When introducing new techniques/technology, ensuring that these are well embedded in the organization.
  • Acting as the leading official in the context of public procurement with the aim of ensuring that the final realization meets the needs.
  • Applying the legislation regarding public procurement.
  • Substantively responsible for the contracts with contractors and/or suppliers.
  • Following up with contractors/suppliers and addressing them on contractual agreements.
  • Embedding change management in the projects to ensure that the change caused by the project is embraced and supported within the organization.
  • Carrying out stakeholder communication so that it is clear what the change is and what the impact is, both to steering committees and users.
  • Communicating to the organization what is changing and ensuring that the solution is embraced and supported.

What skills do you need to successfully complete this assignment?

  • You have a master's degree in engineering sciences or equivalent through experience.
  • You have knowledge in management and/or project and/or program management and demonstrable experience in coaching and leading medium-sized teams in a connecting and participative manner.
  • You have knowledge of public procurement as a project manager or program manager of the client.
  • You have knowledge in dealing with the nuclear safety authority in its role as supervisor and regulator.
  • You hold a security clearance at the ‘secret’ level.
  • You have practical experience with (medium-)large construction sites.
  • You have knowledge of the regulatory framework regarding nuclear & conventional safety.
