Project Leader Media Facilities New Construction (freelance)
VRT is looking for a Project Leader with a strong interest and relevant broadcast experience in video and audio production.
VRT is currently constructing a new, modern media building. Within the New Construction Directorate, the Media Facilities department is responsible for the realization of all technical resources that will be deployed in the new building for the creation, processing, and distribution of audiovisual content. The Media Facilities project is in turn divided into several subdomains: Media Production (live), Post Production, Connectivity, and Infrastructure.
For the Media Production domain, we are looking for an experienced and driven Project Leader who wants to take on the challenge of directly contributing to the realization of the new VRT building, and to guide this process together with colleagues.
What will you do with us?
As a project leader within Media Production, you are responsible for the successful management and execution of one or more large broadcast-related projects defined within Media Production.
- You play a crucial role in coordinating the projects assigned to you.
- You monitor budgets and deadlines and ensure the quality of the solutions.
- You work closely with, among others, the relevant technology teams and operational teams within VRT and with the external broadcast integrators appointed by VRT to achieve the project objectives.
- You help ensure that the right production resources are provided in the new VRT building.
- You work closely with the overarching Media Production project manager, the program management, and the other project leaders within Media Production.
- You ensure transparency within your project, in terms of objectives, scope, timing, budget, and expectations.
- You monitor these various elements so that the objectives of the Media Facilities program are achieved through the project within the set budget.
- You are responsible for project leadership, project operations, planning, and budget monitoring.
- You act as the point of contact and source of information, and report on the assigned project, any problems or opportunities to the relevant departments.
- You act as a representative of the New Construction Directorate towards the various internal and external parties and ensure a constructive and solution-oriented collaboration.

- You can work in a project-based way and have an organized administrative approach with demonstrable relevant experience.
- You can formulate advice, suggestions, and feedback and succeed in convincing others based on clear and substantiated arguments.
- You are a team player and know how to integrate smoothly and identify with the objectives of VRT.
- You are punctual, result-oriented, stress-resistant, and can work within the agreed structures.
- You have the maturity to lead meetings efficiently and correctly.
- Organizing is in your blood and you ensure transparency within your project.
- You have knowledge of project management methodologies and tools, or you are willing to quickly get up to speed in this area.
- Knowledge of both traditional and agile approaches is an advantage.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is an advantage.
- Experience in the media world, and specifically in audiovisual production, is important.
- You are available for this assignment from spring 2026 to spring 2028.
What do we offer you?
You will receive a full-time or part-time contract for a freelance assignment via an intermediary for 12 months; both are possible for us. Extension and rate adjustments are possible by mutual agreement (extendable up to 3 times and rate adjustments maximally according to the applicable Agoria index).
The assignment will be awarded to one or more parties.

Context/Requirements
- 4.1.2 “The rates stated in the Contract are so-called ‘all-in’ rates, which include all costs, such as but not limited to management and administration costs, costs of all communication means, and all travel expenses to and from the place of performance (including parking costs). The rates are only exclusive of VAT.”
- 6.1 “Subcontractor must, for the entire duration of the Agreement, take out the necessary insurance with an FSMA-recognized insurer and is obliged to ensure that assistants are also insured against liability risks. This concerns the following insurances:
- All legally required insurances applicable to the Assignment (e.g., occupational accidents, business travel, ...)
- A Civil Liability insurance and Professional Liability insurance (...)”

- “(...) Client undertakes to ensure that VRT will refrain, during the term of the Contract and for a period of 12 months after its actual end, from inducing the MSP resource to leave the Subcontractor.”
- 13.2.1 “The Contract terminates automatically upon reaching its end date and/or upon reaching the maximum number of performance days provided therein. Any further performance by the Subcontractor after this cannot give rise to invoicing. Each of the Parties may terminate the Contract subject to a written notice period of 1 month to be served. (...)”
