Our Research Business Unit (BIREC) is responsible for coordinating information needs related to judicial investigations. It coordinates all research functionalities that will be assessed, coordinated, and prioritized. Through partnerships with other Police departments and external services (Justice, etc.), we aim to improve the current tools used by field officers as well as find solutions for new needs and challenges.

Project

Management of several projects:

Verif: Project aimed at improving and accelerating screening procedures. This project consists of various sub-projects (screening, OOP44, operational recruitment screening).

My Bike: Project aimed at reducing the risk of bicycle theft/receiving and increasing the chances of recovering them. Registration by citizens via personalized badge and direct use by police officers.

KBO: Interface allowing consultation of the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises: updates, developments, maintenance.

Penal Code: The new Penal Code requires updating all our applications for the integration of aggravating circumstances. Application allowing consultation and retrieval of criminal records.

Mission

As part of the above-mentioned projects, your main missions will be:

  • Manage IT projects (governmental, regulatory solutions)
  • Gather and analyze business needs, draft functional and technical specifications
  • Coordinate stakeholders (internal teams, clients, partners, suppliers)
  • Plan, organize, and monitor the progress of projects (scoping, design, validation, change management)
  • Manage and lead project teams (staffing, skills development, incident management)
  • Ensure training for employees and users
  • Develop monitoring dashboards and performance indicators
  • Conduct DPIA (Data Protection Impact Assessment) and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and tools to support the digital transformation of police services.

In practice

Start date: 01/10/2026
Duration: Until the end of the year (31/12/2026), renewable
Work regime: Full time (40h/week)
Work location: rue Royale 202A 1000 Brussels
Working conditions: Presence at the office at least 2 times per week depending on tasks and in agreement with the team, telework permitted at home or at the employer's premises (in Belgium)
Team: multidisciplinary, mix of internal and external collaborators
