Freelance Project Manager - Software Development (50% Remote)

About the assignment

For a long-term assignment, we are looking for an experienced Project Manager who can also take on the roles of Service Owner and Product Manager. You will work for an organization that provides software solutions to large clients. The role combines project management for software development projects with responsibilities for managing and optimizing the offered products and services. The position offers the possibility of hybrid working (50% remote).

Your responsibilities

Project Management

• Leading software development projects from start to completion, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
• Coordinating project teams, including developers, testers and other stakeholders, to achieve project objectives.
• Preparing and managing project plans, including scope, planning, resources, and budget.
• Risk analysis and implementing solutions to prevent or address project obstacles.

Service Ownership

• Responsible for delivering products and services to large clients, understanding client needs and translating them into the right solutions.
• Monitoring and overseeing the performance of the offered products and services to ensure continuity and client satisfaction.
• Managing the lifecycle of products and services and proactively identifying opportunities for improvements.
• Generating new client projects by identifying opportunities for product adaptations or new features.
• Acting as the main point of contact for clients regarding products and services.
• Experience in delivering outstanding service to large clients and managing complex client relationships is essential.

Product Management

• Actively contributing to the strategy and vision for the products and services, both short and long term.
• Defining product requirements and aligning development with client needs and market demand.
• Collaborating with various internal teams (developers, support, sales) to realize product updates and innovations.
• Conducting market analysis and competitive research to optimize product positioning.

Your profile

Technical skills

• Experience with software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum).
• Experience in project management, including the use of tools such as Jira, MS Project, and other project management software.
• Knowledge of software development, both front-end and back-end, and able to engage in technical discussions with development teams.
• Experience in managing service and product lifecycles, including client relationships and identifying client needs.

Soft skills

• Strong communication skills, both in technical and non-technical terms.
• Leadership and the ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to quickly set priorities and manage risks.
• Client-focused mindset with the ability to translate client wishes into concrete product or service improvements.

Experience

• At least 5 years of experience as a project manager in software development for complex custom solutions for large companies.
• Demonstrable experience with service management for large clients, where delivering excellent service and managing complex client relationships is essential.
• Experience with both project management as well as product and service management.
• Experience working in a client-focused environment where improving client satisfaction is central.
