Toerisme Vlaanderen, in collaboration with Brugge Foundation, started phase 1 of the restoration and renovation works of the Sint-Godelieve Abbey in Bruges in spring 2025.

At this moment, there is an opportunity as we have extra budget for the restoration of a 17th-century façade.

Toerisme Vlaanderen is looking for a restoration architect for the preparation of the restoration dossier (2 lots: restoration of exterior joinery, restoration of façade masonry with natural stone), the preparation of the environmental permit, attending the weekly site meetings, and providing technical advice to the project leader.

Job Description

As architect, you represent Toerisme Vlaanderen as the client. You attend the weekly site meeting and monitor the efficient execution of the various disciplines involved in this project (contractor and safety coordinator). You report to the Hub Real Estate and to the project leader.

• You participate weekly in the site meeting
• You analyze the proposed settlements and advise the project leader regarding approval or rejection of the settlements. We expect a critical attitude towards the proposals
• You check the progress reports
• You monitor the progress of the works and carry out site visits
• You ensure the correct execution of the works based on the specifications
• You check the quality of the work performed
• You also carry out the necessary administrative tasks
• You work closely with the project leader and the HUB Real Estate
• You are flexible and willing to visit the site once a week
• No remote work possible

For the preparation of the specifications: Grasmarkt 61 in 1000 Brussels and Sint-Godelieve Abbey, Boeveriestraat 45 in 8000 Bruges.

For site monitoring: Boeveriestraat 45 in 8000 Bruges.

We expect an all-in rate with the transport allowance included. We prefer candidates who opt for sustainable transport and refer to the decision tree prepared by the Department of Environment.
