ABOUT THE POSITION
The position provides functional support to the team leader and is responsible for supervising and enforcing the rules of conventional and nuclear safety within the facilities and on the premises, carrying out and reporting radiological measurements, directing both internal and external personnel before, during, and after the work to be performed, and conducting work meetings as a representative of the physical control service with the aim of ensuring the safety of people and the environment.
- Carrying out clearance, radiation, and contamination measurements, interpreting the results and proposing safety solutions, taking actions and occasionally imposing measures on the operator with the aim of monitoring radiation and contamination values within the work environment and nuclear zones.
- Performing dose and risk assessments on site and deciding whether or not to release materials, people, loose and fixed structures after carrying out the measurements.
- Being responsible for the measurements, registration, and interpretation of the obtained measurement results, operation, and use of measuring devices.
- Verifying and analyzing alarms, malfunctions, or problems and taking appropriate action on site.
- Identifying unsafe situations, assessing risks, and justifying residual risks in terms of nuclear and industrial safety as well as proposing and imposing corrective actions to ensure that the work to be performed can proceed under safe conditions.
- Monitoring the work to be performed and ensuring its correct execution.
- Radiological supervision of transports according to prescribed standards and instructions and carrying out measurements and reporting.
- Carrying out safety rounds, inspection rounds, routine contamination and radiation checks, preparing radiation and contamination mappings, demarcating unsafe zones, and following up and handling unsafe situations also outside standard working hours.
- Monitoring and tracking doses with the aim of ensuring compliance with legally prescribed limits.
- Taking on the daily monitoring of doses for persons working in the nuclear zones.
- Having nasal swabs taken, measuring them, and reporting on them.
- Managing and checking the correct wearing of the prescribed dosimeters.
- Contributing to the preparation of risk and workplace analyses, Alara studies, etc., as well as assessing and supervising compliance with these analyses with the aim of inventorying risks and being able to take appropriate measures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Determining the personal protective equipment (CBMs and/or PPEs) to be used and correctly dressing and undressing the operators.
- Contributing ideas regarding problems and proposing possible solutions.
- Leading or directing workplace analyses.
- Filling in, checking, approving, and initiating VGWs according to instructions with the aim of establishing agreements for the start of the work and guaranteeing a safe working environment.
- Supervising and enforcing the imposed regulations before, during, and upon completion of the work.
- Evaluating and adjusting unsafe work situations and incidents.
- Stopping unsafe work or imposing additional conditions.
- Checking the correct functioning and use of radiological measuring equipment and resolving malfunctions to ensure reliable measurement.
- Daily checking of atmospheric discharge monitors and processing and reporting the data.
- Checking the efficiency of measuring devices.
- Carrying out minor repairs on personal contamination monitors.
- Contributing to the prevention policy and raising awareness among colleagues and external parties with the aim of ensuring and improving safety within the company.
- Preparing unusual event and incident reports and providing training such as toolboxes, safety and kick-off meetings.
- Acting as a role model from which colleagues can be addressed about unsafe behavior.
- (Co-)searching for improvements and solutions.
- Communicating with all stakeholders, supervisors, colleagues, employees in function of problems, incidents, questions, etc. (including filling in and managing logbooks) with the aim of providing those involved with the necessary information so that the correct actions/decisions can be taken.
- Preparing weekly reports.
- Managing the VEM logbook.
- Being responsible for oral work and shift handovers.
ATTENTION
!!! For this specific role, an internal training of 6 months is provided. Please apply a reduced rate during this training period in your proposal, and then the rate that will apply after the 6-month training period. The necessary materials for this training will be provided by Belgoprocess.
Additional requirements for this position:
- VCA vol
- Willingness to follow radiation protection training (to be provided by the supplier) within a period of 2 years (the cost of this training is borne by the supplier, the hours for this training are paid by Belgoprocess)
