Your Mission

As a Back-End Developer, you will be part of a development team, responsible for the development, maintenance & operations of critical notarial and public applications. You’ll be managing, among other things, the IZIMI digital vault application, serving Belgian citizens, notaries & enterprises.

You will be building software that connects with authentic sources and other sensitive data & documents, which requires high security attention and solid procedures.

What You Will Do

• Architect and build robust, scalable back-end systems to support high-volume, critical digital processes;
• Design and implement efficient, secure REST APIs and microservices in Java;
• Understand and implement complex business flows involving multiple stakeholders, API integrations, and an efficient user experience through the existing (or future) UIs;
• Write and perform unit tests to maximize the quality of your deliverables and assure compliance with Fednot Quality and Security standards;
• Collaborate closely with back- and front-end developers, analysts, testers, and external dependencies to align technical solutions with operational realities;
• Optimize back-end performance to ensure reliability, data integrity, and legal compliance across systems;
• Document the application code to ease its maintenance;
• Support the evolution of the platform with a user- and process-centric mindset.

You have:

• Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience;
• Min 7 years of experience as a Java back-end developer;
• Strong knowledge of Java, Spring framework, Spring Boot;
• Experience with SQL (Microsoft SQL Server);
• Nice to have: experience with React, and familiarity with public administration systems;
• Ability to analyze and model complex processes and workflows;
• Pragmatic, curious, solution-oriented, a real team player with excellent collaboration skills;
• Language: Fluent in Dutch or French, with a solid working knowledge of English.
