Information about the Division (DIST) within the Directorate (DRI)
The Systems Division (DIST) develops the architecture of the ICT system, organizes and manages ICT systems.
It is involved in the technical analysis of system requirements, the development and management of systems (servers, networks, databases, communication, video), in addition to developing technical standards for the police organization and implementing ICT security and protection. It also manages datacenters and the central infrastructure and the technical systems installed there.
This division also provides expert second-line support in this extensive technical field.
Purpose of the Position
The general context of the role is to ensure, manage, improve, and maintain all aspects of integrating Linux server environments into the organization's internal and external information and communication systems. The work in this function is aimed at ensuring an efficient, continuous, and scalable information and communication system so that the organization can achieve its strategic and operational objectives and users can perform their tasks.
The proposed function here is to support our organization in its aim to develop, implement, and maintain a Docker-based Linux container infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up a Linux container infrastructure enabling the development of applications based on an IT microservices architecture. This work involves developing container infrastructure services, orchestration, automation, and storage, to ensure the proper functioning of applications based on microservices.
More broadly, it is about ensuring consistency between ICT systems, implementing them, enabling their evolution, and making them similar. Continuously adjust the relationship between organizational objectives and system objectives. Lead one or more projects, coordinate a team of specialists (engineers) with the available resources so that the users of the information systems can manage their information through the ICT systems as part of processes and information exchange.
Define information processes and plan the necessary resources to process data, to make processing more user-friendly, and to ensure the mutual relationship between these elements. Develop standards, guidelines, and procedures for the development and evolution of technical systems.
As part of your role, you will contribute to the realization of the digital transformation of the integrated police by securely replacing various tools and technologies to meet today's and tomorrow's challenges.
In this respect, solutions based on clusters and servers play an important role, and a modern, reliable, high-performance, and above all secure environment is essential.
To this end, you will be part of a multidisciplinary division. Within this team, you will assume the position of OpenShift Administrator.
Your tasks include:
- Implementation of Red Hat OpenShift infrastructures (version 4 and later versions) in the police datacenters, as a containerization solution, with its Kubernetes orchestrator
- Daily management of these container infrastructures, relying on an automation tool such as Ansible
- Ensuring the proper functioning of containers within these infrastructures
- Monitoring the use of OpenShift platforms, their containers, and their orchestrators using solutions like Prometheus/Kibana
- Monitoring the performance of these infrastructures
- Trend analysis of usage and performance; providing advice and defining actions based on these analyses
- Planning expansions, in line with usage forecasts
- Coordinating the deployment of these expansions, and assisting with their installation and configuration
- Coordinating updates of OpenShift infrastructures according to vendor recommendations, including major releases
- Analysis and validation of architectural evolution of the container application platform
The function involves participation in an "on-call and recallable" duty role outside normal business hours.
Profile
- Bachelor or Master in Computer Science
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in performing a similar role
Language Skills
- Preferably bilingual (Dutch, French) or, if not, have sufficient basic knowledge of a second national language to be able to participate without issue in meetings with other specialists and with user representatives.
- A solid knowledge of technical English is essential.

Specific Knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Server 8 is required (clearly based on certifications)
- In-depth knowledge of virtualization solutions in a Linux environment (Red Hat Virtualization, KVM, VMWare, ...)
- You have very good knowledge of administration of the OpenShift 4 environment
- Very good knowledge in the management and implementation of containers and their orchestration (Kubernetes) in an OpenShift 4 environment
- Very good ability to install, deploy, and troubleshoot an OpenShift 4 environment on a virtualization platform such as Red Hat Virtualization and VMWare
- You have good knowledge to automate administration, maintenance, and monitoring tasks of an OpenShift 4 cluster environment with Ansible
- Knowledge of Open LDAP and Samba is an asset
- Knowledge of backup and restore solutions in a Linux environment (for example Commvault) is an asset
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and 11 Enterprise is an asset
- User-level knowledge of Microsoft O365 products is required
