Hiring of a Senior Oracle Database Administrator for the Informatics (ICT) department of the Agency for Agriculture and Sea Fisheries.

Context/Requirements

The position is situated within the Department of Digitalization and Organization of the Agency for Agriculture and Sea Fisheries.

This department is responsible for:

• the coordination and implementation of the Organization and HR Policy;
• the coordination and implementation of the logistics policy;
• the coordination of the information policy, information management, and the support of the digitalization of the organization;
• the coordination of the data policy, data management;
• the coordination and implementation of the IT policy;
• the coordination and implementation of the communication policy, including the Flemish Rural Network;
• the financial management of the Flemish paying agency, the Flemish Investment Fund, the financing instrument for the Flemish fishery and aquaculture sector, and the Common Agricultural Policy Fund;
• the Internal Audit.

It is for the IT Operations team within the Department of Digitalization and Organization that the Agency for Agriculture and Sea Fisheries wishes to hire a Senior Oracle Database Administrator.
This IT Operations team is responsible for bringing into production and maintaining the entire IT infrastructure, both software and hardware.
The Senior Oracle Database Administrator is part of the DBA team, a team responsible for managing mainly Oracle databases, and also some PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server databases.

The tasks to be performed by this team are:

• Daily management of the existing databases, monitoring of backup and monitoring systems, resolution of incidents.
• Design and implementation of major changes, new databases, or removal of old databases:
  including database installation, patching, inventory, configuration, testing, and documentation.

The candidate must meet the following technical competencies and experience requirements, listed in order of importance.

Technical competencies

• 5 years of full-time, relevant, professional, and demonstrable experience as an Oracle DBA
• Demonstrable knowledge regarding the general maintenance and control of the operation of recent Oracle databases (12c, 18c, 19c).
• Demonstrable knowledge of the management of Oracle users at the database level (logins, access rights, security).
• Demonstrable knowledge of distributed Oracle environments (including replication, log shipping, ...).
• Demonstrable knowledge of installations and migrations of Oracle client and server software
• Demonstrable experience with management and monitoring of Oracle backups via RMAN.
• Demonstrable knowledge of Oracle troubleshooting and the use of Oracle Support.
• Demonstrable knowledge of the Oracle DBA management software Oracle Enterprise Manager.
• Demonstrable knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL.
• Demonstrable knowledge of database and SQL tuning.
• Demonstrable experience with Oracle Spatial, Oracle Text, Oracle Partitioning
• Demonstrable knowledge of the above-mentioned topics applied to PostgreSQL databases
• Demonstrable knowledge of the above-mentioned topics applied to MS SQL Server databases
• Demonstrable basic knowledge of Linux and Bash scripting
• Use of central storage systems in combination with enterprise database systems.
