Hiring a Senior System Engineer Linux - Network - Storage for the Informatics (ICT) Service of the Agency for Agriculture and Fisheries

Context/Requirements

It is for the IT-Operations service within the Digitalization and Organization department that the Agency for Agriculture and Fisheries wishes to hire a senior system engineer.
This IT-Operations service is responsible for bringing into production and maintaining the entire IT infrastructure, both in terms of software and hardware.

The task of the senior system administrator is to set up and maintain several systems used by the Agency for Agriculture and Fisheries.
This includes daily management of existing systems (monitoring backups and monitoring, resolving incidents, etc.), as well as designing and implementing major changes, new systems, or decommissioning old systems.
The standard workplace for this position is the LV office in Brussels, but travel to the LV data centers located in Aalst, Antwerp, and Ghent should not be an issue.

The system administrator will work within the LUNS team of IT-Operations. This is a team responsible for managing all Linux systems, all network equipment, and all storage equipment of LV.
Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with Linux system administration is the most important requirement for this position, but demonstrable knowledge, experience, or interest in enterprise network management and storage management is definitely seen as a plus.
It is not the system administrator's task to modify the applications themselves; this is performed by development teams within LV.

The proposed candidate must meet at least the following technical competencies, which are listed in order of importance. This must be evident from the candidate's CV.

Technical competencies

Must have:

• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience (5 years) with Linux system administration (preferably Suse Linux Enterprise Server)
• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience (5 years) with Linux scripting: bash, python, perl
• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with ansible configuration management in an enterprise environment
• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with kubernetes and containers in an enterprise environment, preferably on-prem

Should have:

• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with monitoring: elastic, nagios
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of the use of virtualization in an enterprise environment: VMware ESX or others
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience with data center operations: planning, execution, and documentation of (de)installation of server, storage, and network equipment and their patching, in own data centers
• Demonstrable experience with follow-up of support calls from customers and with suppliers, and ITIL processes in general
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience with the management of enterprise data analysis software such as Tibco Data Virtualization and Knime Business Hub
• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with networking in an enterprise environment: cisco ACI, palo alto firewalls, F5 big ip, barracuda ADC
• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with storage in an enterprise environment: netapp AFF, HPE Alletra 9000, HPE Storeonce
