Software Test Engineer

Job Description:

The tester is responsible for the functional and technical testing of software (products), (web) applications and/or microservices, ensuring that they are free of errors and that the user experience of the end product is as optimal as possible. The tester also looks for opportunities where automation can be beneficial.

The tester works in an Agile environment and is part of a self-managing team focused on continuously delivering better applications by constantly optimizing.

Your role is to support the team by functionally and technically testing the stories they develop during the sprint.

In this way, you help prevent errors and ensure that the end user has the best possible user experience. You also assist in filtering the issues that are registered from other sources. This relieves other team members and improves the quality of the logged issues.

TASKS

Manual Testing

  • As a tester, you are responsible for developing test cases based on the provided stories. This is done in consultation with the team and across various technologies and projects.
  • You write out test cases.
  • You execute the test cases.
  • You monitor the continuity and stability of the end products.
  • You report any found errors and follow them up.
  • You prepare the test data where necessary.
  • You manage and monitor the available test data.
  • Technical context: Jira, Sharepoint, Lambdatest, Office 365, SQL databases, … Knowledge of these is required.

Automated Testing

  • You develop automated test cases for new applications/microservices.
  • You revise automated test cases when existing applications are updated.
  • You are able to create and configure both Cypress tests and Newman/Postman tests in a CI/CD pipeline.
  • Technical context: Cucumber, Java, Selenium, Cypress, Newman/Postman. Knowledge of these is required.
