Solution Architect – Data Platform Senior Specialist
Objectives
The objective #1 is to draft the SBB (Solution Building Blocks) architecture design.
SBB is a method for building complex systems by breaking them down into smaller, modular components or “building blocks” that represent specific technologies.
SBB (the HOW) is the concrete implementation of the more abstract, high level ABB, the Architecture Building Blocks (the WHAT). The ABB has been already drafted, and has to be considered as pattern for the SBB.
The expectation is the technology direction Sciensano should follow for a modern data platform.
Objective #2 is to become the “memory” of the Sciensano Data Platform, making the link between the business needs, and the implementation and maintenance of the platform.
Tasks
- Understand and integrate the ABB
- Collect detailed technical requirements from stakeholders
- Specify what products and components will implement particular functionalities
- Technology watch, product and vendor awareness
- Review and assess the current IT landscape (and shadow IT)
- Define how the implementation of the functionalities will be carried out
- Provide a mapping from the SBB to the IT topology and operational policies
- Detail performance expectations and configurability options
- Guarantee a cost-efficient approach in a funding constrained sector

The candidate needs to have an objective and pragmatic approach (based on needs, requirements and budget) to draft the best solution for Sciensano. No dogma, the proposal will have to be implemented.
