1. Presentation of ETNIC
ETNIC (Entreprise pour les Technologies de l’Information et de la Communication) is the IT operator of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. As a public interest organization, ETNIC's mission is to design, develop, maintain, and evolve information systems and technological infrastructures serving the administrations and establishments of the FWB.
As a central player in the digital transformation of the Belgian French-speaking public sector, ETNIC operates in various fields such as:
- Management of IT infrastructures (networks, security, data centers, cloud),
- Development of custom business applications,
- Support for digital projects (functional analysis, UX/UI, project management),
- Cybersecurity and data protection,
- User support and training.
With a constant focus on innovation, performance, and public service, ETNIC regularly collaborates with external partners to strengthen its teams through IT consultancy missions. These collaborations are part of an ethical, professional framework, oriented towards quality and the tangible impact of the delivered solutions.
2. Mission
The Solution Architect operates in a domain where the challenge is to ensure the performance of the company's services.
In a context of digital transformation, defined and framed at a strategic level, their role is decisive in the tactical phase of designing and implementing the software solution that meets the beneficiary's needs.
The Solution Architect is involved in projects impacting information systems (IS – including IT systems) and is responsible for the overall architecture, design, and implementation of the defined solution.
Their involvement is based on their understanding of the beneficiary, their environment, business, and processes. The Solution Architect must meet high expectations at the business and application levels of their beneficiary (performance, productivity gains, management, traceability and storage of data, optimization of business processes, etc.).
Their expertise and methodology lead them, in the framing phase, to carry out a convergence study in order to propose a solution adapted to the needs while taking into account cost and time constraints. From the preparatory phase, the Solution Architect considers the organizational and technological constraints of their beneficiary to have a complete view, allowing them to define the impacts and risks on the overall functioning of both ETNIC and the beneficiary's business.
They must focus on analyzing the architecture of complex systems and formalizing business challenges, define business reference frameworks understandable by all project participants, analyze the business added value and functional capabilities, analyze the various impacts on business processes to propose a coherent (IT) solution.
They are able to understand technologies and their capabilities to integrate, to position them appropriately within IT systems.
They are also responsible for establishing the conditions for project success: supervising the design, development, deployment, and testing phases.
3. Activities
Understand, through business requirements, the IT solutions to be provided
- Identify architecture components to build solutions for the business.
- Propose solution models understandable to both business and IT.
- Maximize the value delivered to the business through IT solutions.
Analyze and model IT solutions
- Analyze IT solutions to develop a semantic understanding.
- Model and elaborate architecture files within the framework of IT projects conducted in the company.
- Produce solution documentation adapted to different stakeholders by tailoring vocabulary to the concerned audience.
Create a systemic view of IT solutions
- Assist other architects in their analyses and modeling with a holistic approach to the information system.
- Contribute, with a "quality" perspective, to the implementation and revision of the procedure manual and related processes.
- Monitor the obsolescence of IT solutions.
- Ensure the reuse of standard business vocabulary and, if necessary, establish a glossary of business terms to standardize the vocabulary used in communications between different stakeholders.
