Hiring a system administrator (medior) Linux for the Operations department of the Agency for Agriculture and Sea Fisheries.

Context/Requirements

The task of the system administrator (medior) Linux is to set up and maintain a number of systems used by the Agency for Agriculture and Sea Fisheries.

This includes daily management of the existing systems (monitoring backups and monitoring, resolving incidents, etc.), as well as the design and implementation of major changes, new systems, or removal of old systems.
The standard workplace for this position is the LV office in Brussels, but travel to the LV datacenters located in Aalst, Antwerp, and Ghent should not be an issue.

The system administrator (medior) Linux will work within the LUNS team of IT-Operations. This is a team responsible for managing all Linux systems, all network equipment, and all storage equipment of LV. Knowledge and experience with Linux server management is by far the most important for this position, but knowledge, experience, or interest in enterprise network and storage management is also considered a plus.

The proposed candidate must at least meet the competencies listed below, in order of importance. This must be evident from the candidate's CV. Candidates who do not meet these minimum requirements will not be included in the further selection process.

Technical competencies

must have:

• Demonstrable knowledge of and demonstrable experience (3 years) with Linux system administration in an enterprise environment (preferably Suse Linux Enterprise Server)

should have:

• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with Linux scripting: bash, python, perl
• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with the use of virtualization in an enterprise environment: VMware ESX or others
• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with Ansible configuration management in an enterprise environment
• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with monitoring: elastic, nagios
• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with Kubernetes platform in an enterprise environment, preferably on-prem
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience with datacenter operations: planning, execution, and documentation of (de)installation of server, storage, and network equipment and their patching, in own datacenters
• Demonstrable experience with follow-up of support calls from customers and with suppliers, and ITIL processes in general
• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with networking in an enterprise environment: cisco ACI, palo alto firewalls, F5 big ip
• Demonstrable knowledge of and experience with storage in enterprise environment: netapp AFF, HPE Alletra 9000, HPE Storeonce
