Systems & Integration Specialist – BIS

Position Objective

Within the Biometric Identification Service (BIS) of the Directorate of Technical and Scientific Police of the federal judicial pillar of the GPI, the "Systems & Integration Specialist" ensures the proper functioning of the automated fingerprint and palm print identification system in an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited environment (cert. BELAC – 696-Test).

They guarantee the continuous operationality of the central system and the decentralized capture stations.

They also provide technical expertise in the implementation of the new ABIS system, as well as in all projects related to the operation and evolution of biometric data.

They contribute to the preparation of environments, technical integration and support of BIS internal tools.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  1. User Support / Helpdesk

  2. Respond to requests from internal and external clients and liaise with specialized teams or providers when necessary.

  3. Provide technical and functional assistance:

  4. 1st level for central system users, in coordination with the contractor and the DRI (2nd level).

  5. 2nd level for capture station users, in coordination with local managers (1st level) and the contractor (3rd level).

  6. Incident Management

  7. Diagnose and resolve incidents related to equipment and business applications.

  8. Log, track, and document tickets in the incident management tool.

  9. Escalate complex problems to the appropriate services and ensure communication between stakeholders.

  10. Document solutions and best practices.

  11. Monitoring and Scheduled Tasks

  12. Ensure continuous monitoring of systems to detect anomalies.

  13. Periodically check the status of storage capacities.

  14. Perform preventive maintenance, in collaboration with providers if necessary.

  15. Monitor and maintain the virtualized environments and servers hosting BIS internal tools.

  16. Archiving and Backup

  17. Manage the effectiveness of data archiving and backup procedures.

  18. Regularly perform restoration tests to ensure system and data availability.

  19. Training and Documentation

  20. Collect, structure, and share technical information.

  21. Draft and update documentation: user guides, internal procedures, technical documentation, inventories.

  22. Conduct technology watch in the fields of biometrics, particularly regarding fingerprints and palm prints.

  23. Train users in business equipment and software.

  24. IT Security

  25. Ensure the protection of applications, systems, and sensitive data.

  26. Ensure compliance with internal security policies.

  27. Raise user awareness of cybersecurity best practices.

  28. Analysis and Project Contribution

  29. Draft technical analyses and notes.

  30. Provide technical and functional opinions to managers and partners.

  31. Participate in critical analysis of processes and propose improvements.

  32. Attend follow-up meetings and contribute to the progress of projects related to the current and future system.

  33. Development and Integration

  34. Ensure the maintenance and evolution of internal tools developed by the service.

  35. Design new tools to meet functional needs, handling both front-end and back-end aspects.

  36. Participate in the integration and migration of databases.

  37. Process, transform, and analyze complex files as part of internal processing.

  38. Install and maintain Linux virtualized environments for internal testing and development.

Required Profile

Education

  • Hold a bachelor's degree oriented towards ICT or have equivalent experience in the field.

Required Skills

  1. Technical Skills

Windows & Linux systems

  • Navigation, basic commands, user and rights management.

  • Scheduled tasks, software installation, log analysis.

Office environments

  • Advanced proficiency: Office 365, SharePoint, OneDrive.

Computer hardware
