Job Description

As a staff member within our prevention service, you are the expert on hazardous substances. You manage the entire process of these products: from legal follow-up to operational support and process improvement.

The staff member is responsible for translating and ensuring compliance with regulations regarding hazardous substances within the company. You play a crucial role in ensuring a safe working environment and supporting internal and external parties with questions and procedures related to hazardous products.

This concerns a temporary assignment for 1 year.

Task Package

• Management of hazardous substances and safety data sheets
• Application and follow-up of legislation (REACH, CLP, ADR, VLAREM…)
• Commissioning of new hazardous products and inventory management
• Providing support to internal departments and external companies
• Reviewing and improving procedures
• Drafting and analyzing exposure scenarios

Job Requirements

• Knowledge of relevant legislation (REACH, CLP, ADR, VLAREM…) and risk management
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Experience with SDS, exposure assessments and risk management is a plus
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Thorough knowledge of chemical legislation and safety regulations
• Knowledge of the various types of PPE used
• Proficient use of MS Office applications and affinity with input and processing of administrative data
• Loyal attitude and keen attention to a high-quality, safe, and environmentally friendly work environment
• Sense of responsibility, teamwork, and flexibility
• Ability to work independently, accurately, punctually, and orderly

Core Tasks and Responsibilities

Legislation & Compliance

• Follows national and European legislation regarding hazardous substances (REACH, CLP, ADR, VLAREM, etc.).
• Advises internal departments about legal obligations and translates these into practical guidelines.

Hazardous Substances Management

• Keeps the register of hazardous substances up to date.
• Manages safety data sheets (SDS) and ensures correct labeling and storage.
• Conducts risk analyses and drafts exposure scenarios.

Commissioning of Hazardous Products

• Assesses new products based on chemical composition and risks.
• Coordinates approval procedures and ensures correct documentation.

Operational Support

• Provides support to production, logistics, and other departments with questions about the use, storage, and transport of hazardous substances.
• Acts as a point of contact for external companies (suppliers, contractors) regarding hazardous products.

Procedure Management & Improvement

• Analyzes existing procedures regarding hazardous substances and proposes improvements.
• Contributes to audits, internal controls, and incident analyses.
• Contributes to drafting and revising emergency procedures and preventive measures.

Exposure Scenarios & Risk Management

• Develops and evaluates scenarios for exposure to chemical substances.
• Supports implementation of control measures (PPE, ventilation, substitution).
• Conducts walk-throughs on the work floor.
