What will your tasks be?

  • Resolving 2nd and 3rd line network issues (routing, switching, and wireless networks)
  • Monitoring networks and intervening in case of network problems
  • Measuring traffic on operational police networks
  • Validating proposals regarding network architecture
  • Developing the network architecture for federal police buildings
  • Advising local police zones on their network architecture
  • Documenting the networks
  • Asset management
  • Conducting site surveys regarding structured network cabling for fixed and wireless networks
  • Participating in an “on-call and reachable” service outside of normal office hours

Your challenges

  • Making the digital transformation of the police a reality by securely applying various tools and technologies
  • Ensuring the cybersecurity of our applications and environments by guaranteeing their optimal security
  • Participating in the digitalization, modernization, and implementation of modern, mobile, secure, and efficient systems

Your talents

  • A degree or diploma in computer science or equivalent through experience
  • French or Dutch speaking and willing to work in a multilingual environment (French, Dutch, English)
  • Demonstrable experience of at least 5 years in a similar position
  • At least 5 years of practical experience in general technical management (architecture design, selection of equipment and connections, evaluation)
  • A wide area network of at least 50 sites in a maximum configuration
  • At least 10 local area networks, interconnected via a wide area network
  • Led at least 2 installation projects for local networks (structured cabling, architectural design, connection points) in the past 5 years
  • Led at least one migration project (design, budgeting, lab testing, implementation, ...) for technological change

Required technical knowledge:

  • Computer networks from LAN to WAN:
  • Network architecture
  • Network security
  • TCP/IP and its application in fixed and wireless networks (including SNMP, OSPF, BGP)
  • Ethernet local area networks with Layer 2/3 switching, especially based on Avaya/Extreme Networks and including VLAN, MLT, and SMLT
  • Wireless networks (wifi), preferably based on Aruba equipment
  • Wide Area Networking based on SDSL and VDSL connections (MPLS IP VPN), SD-WAN, wireless connections (Hz), fiber optic connections
  • Solutions for managing the performance of a computer network, including the use of the Truview product from Netscout
  • Firewall operation and programming
  • Dark fiber and the installed DWDM equipment, such as ADVA
  • Blade switches and virtual switches in virtualized environments (KVM and VMWare)
  • Minimum Cisco CCNA knowledge level
