Work Environment

The Federal Judicial Police is a specialized police force, mainly responsible for combating organized crime in all its forms. It is one of the three general directorates of the Federal Police and focuses on investigating cases related to areas such as cybercrime, terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking, and many others. It provides support and expertise to the entire integrated police force, as well as to its national and international partners.

Within this directorate, operational resources are assigned to judicial police operations, the fight against serious and organized crime, special units, as well as technical and scientific police operations.

The Federal Police has chosen to modernize one of its main tools dedicated to case management. Currently, this solution takes the form of a legacy application, a Windows client type. It is widely deployed within the Federal Police for case management and the drafting of official reports.

As part of this modernization, an in-depth analysis will be carried out, in which UX and UI aspects will play a central role. At your level, you will initially be responsible for designing screen prototypes, incorporating both visual design and interactions. These prototypes will be validated by end users as well as by various stakeholders before being implemented by developers.

During this analysis phase, you will be accompanied by a functional analyst who is well integrated into the organization and has a thorough understanding of the operational issues to be considered.

Once the analysis is completed, the implementation phase of the solution will then begin. During this stage, you will be responsible for writing user stories, test scenarios, validating the developed solution, as well as drafting any bugs or additional user stories aimed at correcting non-conformities identified in relation to your designs and planned interactions. You may also need to update your designs as user needs evolve.

Main Missions

During your mission, you will be expected to:

  • Familiarize yourself with the existing situation and understand the Police context as well as operational needs. To do this, it will be necessary to consult with various stakeholders (with the functional analyst) in order to obtain a complete mapping of the needs.

  • Propose designs that result in a simple and intuitive application, in which navigation and transitions between different screens are fluid and logical.

  • Ensure that the applications can adapt to different screen sizes and device types (computer, tablet, smartphone). The information density must be appropriate and allow for easy reading, regardless of the medium used.

  • Propose clear and non-redundant functionalities. The design must be clean and readable, the information density must facilitate reading, and the contrast between different elements must be sufficient.

  • Participate in defining the scope of the application and the MVP (with the functional analyst), and draft the user stories required to achieve this MVP.

  • Assist developers in implementing your design by supporting them and basing your work on CSS frameworks such as PrimeNG, while providing references or directly integrable CSS code.

  • Test the application, organize user testing sessions, and propose corrective actions based on these tests to adapt the application accordingly.

Profile Sought

You have training in UX/UI Design, strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, as well as experience with frameworks such as PrimeNG, all supported by significant experience in a similar role.

You possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

You are able to synthesize the needs of users with varied profiles, in order to provide clear, understandable, and usable deliverables for technical teams.

You efficiently collect user feedback during testing sessions and are able to translate it into concrete and relevant actions.

You are an expert in interface prototyping and also have good knowledge of vector drawing. You are proficient with tools such as Figma and Illustrator.

You are fluent in English as well as at least one of the two national languages. Active knowledge of one national language and passive (at least) of the other is a real asset.

You have experience in a comparable environment. Knowledge of how the Police operates, in particular the Federal Judicial Police, is a significant advantage.

Soft Skills

  • Adaptability: Being able to adapt to a change in strategy that questions already established elements.

  • Pragmatism: Propose simple, effective interfaces aligned with operational needs.

  • Autonomy: Able to work independently once objectives and expectations are aligned with the team.

  • Functional creativity: Respect the framework while proposing innovative and suitable solutions.

  • Solution-oriented: Identify problems and, above all, propose concrete solutions.

  • Ease of collaboration: Easily integrate into a new environment and work effectively with various stakeholders (technical, project manager, lead).

  • Communication: Able to communicate clearly and as soon as necessary.

  • Pedagogy: Able to explain concepts appropriately to users, according to their needs and level of understanding.
